Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Britton.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my career in the Michigan craft beer industry, working in sales and marketing, while also scratching my creative itch with side jobs as a videographer and content creator. On the outside, things looked like they were moving in the right direction. Internally, they weren’t.
Over time, pressure from work, unresolved mental health struggles, and an unhealthy relationship with alcohol caught up to me. I left the beer industry and started Wise Bear. Years later, I hit turning point. My marriage ended, my business fell apart, and I was forced to confront patterns I could no longer ignore. That season was painful, humbling, and unavoidable.
Getting sober was the turning point. I committed to therapy, faith, and doing the internal work I had spent years avoiding. Before rebuilding the business, I focused on rebuilding myself and becoming a better father. That process fundamentally changed how I view success, leadership, and growth.
Wise Bear Creative was really reborn out of that rebuilding season. I didn’t want to create another agency chasing trends or vanity metrics. I wanted to build something rooted in clarity, trust, and long-term results. Today, I lead a growing team that helps service-based businesses across the country turn online visibility into real revenue through authority-driven marketing and strategy that compounds over time.
My story isn’t about failure or redemption tied up in a bow. It’s about taking responsibility, choosing growth, and building a life and business that are aligned and sustainable. I believe the strongest brands—and the strongest people—are built through vulnerability, discipline, and consistency.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Some of the biggest challenges I’ve faced weren’t external, they were internal.
I went through a divorce while also struggling with addiction and unaddressed mental health issues. At the same time, I was trying to build a career and maintain the appearance that everything was fine. That combination eventually caught up to me. I lost relationships, watched a business fall apart, and had to confront the fact that hustle and talent can’t outrun unresolved personal issues.
One of the hardest challenges was admitting I needed help. Choosing sobriety, committing to therapy, and doing the internal work required me to slow down in a world that rewards constant motion. It forced me to redefine success and leadership, not as output or growth at all costs, but as sustainability, presence, and integrity.
Professionally, rebuilding trust with myself and others took time. I had to learn how to build systems instead of relying on adrenaline, how to lead with clarity instead of urgency, and how to create boundaries that protected both my mental health and my family.
Those challenges reshaped how I operate today. They gave me empathy, discipline, and a long-term mindset that directly influences how I build businesses and how I show up as a leader, a father, and a partner.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Wise Bear Creative?
Wise Bear Creative is a digital marketing agency built specifically for service-based businesses that depend on trust, reputation, and local demand to grow.
We specialize in authority-driven marketing, combining search strategy, brand clarity, content, and systems that turn online visibility into real leads and revenue. Most of our work focuses on businesses like contractors, trades, professional services, and regional companies that are great at what they do but struggle to clearly communicate it online.
What sets us apart is that we don’t chase trends or vanity metrics. We build marketing the way buyers actually behave. That means starting with clarity, making it easy for Google to understand a business, and making it easy for customers to trust and choose them. Traffic means nothing if it doesn’t convert, and we’re very intentional about that.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how disciplined we are. We say no to shortcuts, overpromising, and bloated tactics. Everything we build is designed to compound over time, not spike and disappear. Our clients don’t just want more clicks, they want a business that’s positioned to last.
What I want readers to know is that Wise Bear Creative exists because I believe good businesses deserve to win. When marketing is done with integrity, clarity, and strategy, it becomes a growth engine instead of a constant source of frustration. That’s the work we’re committed to doing.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Honestly, some of my favorite childhood memories are skating and skateboarding with friends. Life felt simple. It was just me, my friends, a video camera, and what felt like unlimited time. We weren’t thinking about careers or outcomes, just creating, exploring, and being fully present in the moment.
Those experiences stuck with me. They taught me the value of creativity, community, and telling stories, long before I realized those things would shape my career.
