Hi Cori, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I found my way to Beckon Homes in 2021 when I decided to shift my career away from events. I initially joined Beckon in the Interiors Department as a short term contractor, covering for a director’s extended maternity leave, where I was tasked with furnishing and preparing new homes for rental. From the start, I was captivated by one of Beckon’s founding principles: to make our corner of the world a beautiful place. This mission deeply resonated with me, and I decided to take a chance on a temporary role in the hopes that I’d find a long term position within the team.

At Beckon, we often describe our culture as “Yes, and?” meaning we go above and beyond the parameters of our job description. The culture is all about teamwork and versatility, and while my original responsibility was to furnish properties, I helped with onboarding new homes, conducted quality control checks, and even spent a few days a week working in customer service. This diverse experience helped me build a solid foundation and learned the intricacies of the business from the ground up.

When my counterpart returned from maternity leave, my role evolved, and I began taking on greater responsibilities as a permanent part of the team, including helping to steer the company’s next steps. Now, three years later, I am honored to serve as Chief of Staff and I have the privilege of helping guide our incredible team and shaping the strategic direction of our company. With our guiding principles in mind, we are empowered to create exceptional experiences for our clients and guests. I firmly believe that by holding true to our purpose, we will continue to grow intentionally, and to build a legacy of excellence, one beautiful home at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The current economic climate presents unique challenges for the real estate market and the world of Airbnb. Inflation, soaring interest rates, a stagnant real estate market, and the uncertainties of an election year have all contributed to a more complex environment for short-term rental owners. At Beckon Homes, we are navigating these times with a proactive and innovative approach.

We understand that managing an Airbnb listing is no longer a source of passive income; it requires constant attention and effort. Our 24/7 hospitality team dedicates daily attention to optimizing every aspect of our listings, ensuring we remain competitive to attract future travelers, and continue to give them incredible experiences.

In response to the changing landscape, we’ve also diversified our services. Beyond managing vacation rentals, we now offer our home management and concierge services to primary homes. This pivot has allowed us to extend our expertise to our neighbors and provide valuable support to our greater community. This new branch of our company, Beckon Residential, is dedicated to providing personalized home management and concierge services, allowing our clients to fully enjoy their homes and prioritize what matters most to them.

What matters most to me is excelling in my role as Chief of Staff while leading a fulfilling family life. Last year, my husband and I welcomed our first child, and balancing these two important aspects of my life has brought both a fresh challenge and a new sense of fulfillment. Being present not only for the major milestones but the everyday moments with my family is as important to me as being a formidable leader at Beckon.

Moreover, I am deeply committed to helping my team achieve this balance as well. It’s essential for them to lead full lives outside of work, to be totally present and engaged when they are working, and to fully enjoy their families when they are not. By fostering this balance, I believe my team can find the same fulfillment in their personal and professional lives that we strive to provide for our clients. Building this harmony for myself and others is what truly drives me and is the underlying mission of Beckon.
