Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Ross.
Hi Brandy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started The Lanyap Advisory after spending more than 16 years managing complex IT, infrastructure, and cybersecurity projects across federal and commercial environments. My career began in the United States Air Force, where I learned disciplined project execution, strategic leadership, and the importance of mission-focused service. Over time, I developed a strong reputation for solving high-stakes problems, building high-performing teams, and bringing order and structure to fast-moving environments.
As I advanced professionally, I became increasingly aware that many nonprofits, community organizations, and emerging founders lacked access to the same level of project management, grant development, and strategic planning that large organizations take for granted. I saw a gap: talented leaders doing critical community work—but without the systems, funding strategies, or technical infrastructure to grow.
I launched The Lanyap Advisory to close that gap.
The firm brings together my technical background, my project management expertise, and my commitment to community impact. “Lanyap” means “a little something extra,” and that’s exactly what we provide—advisory support that goes beyond deliverables and helps clients build long-term sustainability. Today, The Lanyap Advisory supports nonprofits, small businesses, and mission-driven organizations with grant writing, business development, operational support, and project management solutions designed to help them scale.
My story is ultimately about bringing the skills I learned abroad, in the military, and in corporate settings back home to help strengthen communities, unlock resources, and empower organizations to do their best work.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth. Building The Lanyap Advisory meant stepping into a space where demand was high, resources were limited, and many organizations needed support far beyond what they initially understood to ask for. One of the earliest challenges was educating clients—especially nonprofits and emerging founders—on the importance of structured project management, strategic planning, and funding readiness. Many came to me after experiencing failed partnerships, missed grant opportunities, or unclear operational processes, which meant I was often rebuilding systems from the ground up.
Another challenge was capacity. As a consultant with deep technical and project management expertise, I was accustomed to operating in highly resourced federal and commercial environments. Transitioning that level of rigor to small and midsized organizations required not only adapting my approach, but also helping clients shift their mindset from survival mode to strategic growth. Balancing client needs, building service models, and establishing internal frameworks all while maintaining quality was a complex undertaking.
There were personal challenges as well—navigating entrepreneurship while working full-time, building a firm grounded in integrity, and staying committed to serving communities that historically have had less access to professional support. But each obstacle reaffirmed the need for what I was creating.
Those struggles shaped the firm’s identity: we don’t just deliver services, we stabilize organizations, unlock funding pathways, and build sustainable infrastructure. The challenges ultimately strengthened our mission and our commitment to giving clients “a little something extra” at every stage.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

What We Are Known For
The Lanyap Advisory is known for bringing high-level project management discipline—usually found in federal and commercial environments—into community-centered work. Clients trust us because we don’t just write grants or build documents; we build systems, partnerships, and long-term pathways to success. We often become thought partners, helping leaders refine their ideas, strengthen internal infrastructure, and position themselves for larger opportunities. Many clients come to us after struggling with disorganized processes, unclear strategy, or lack of funding readiness, and leave with structure, alignment, and momentum.
What Sets Us Apart
Several things truly differentiate our brand:
1. Our multidisciplinary expertise
We combine IT project management, cybersecurity, federal program experience, community development, and nonprofit strategy. This gives clients a rare blend of technical strength and community-centered insight.
2. Our “Lanyap” philosophy
“Lanyap” means “a little something extra,” and that mindset is baked into everything we do. We consistently exceed expectations—anticipating needs, improving clarity, and strengthening organizational capacity beyond the immediate project.
3. Our commitment to equity and impact
We prioritize organizations serving underserved communities, grassroots leaders, and founders who are building generational change. We care deeply about helping mission-driven organizations access the same quality of support that well-funded entities receive.
4. Our ability to translate complexity
Whether it’s a high-stakes grant, a technical project, or a multifaceted business model, we break complexity down into achievable steps, making execution easier for our clients and their teams.
What We Are Most Proud Of (Brand-Wise)
I am most proud that The Lanyap Advisory has become a trusted partner and stabilizing force for organizations navigating growth. The brand represents clarity, integrity, compassion, and excellence. It embodies the idea that communities thrive when organizations have the structure and resources to operate at their highest potential.
Our clients know that when they come to us, they get expertise, execution, and a partner who genuinely cares about their success.
What We Want Readers to Know
The Lanyap Advisory exists to help visionaries build sustainable, fundable, high-impact organizations. We do more than provide services—we build capacity, unlock opportunities, and bring order to ambitious ideas. Whether you are an emerging founder or a seasoned nonprofit leader preparing to scale, our firm provides the strategy, structure, and support you need to move to your next level.
If you are looking for a partner who offers both excellence and “a little something extra,” The Lanyap Advisory is here to support your growth.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is expanding access—access to opportunity, to knowledge, to resources, and to the kinds of professional support that help organizations grow and communities thrive. Throughout my career, I have seen firsthand how many brilliant, mission-driven leaders never reach their full potential simply because they lack the infrastructure, funding readiness, or strategic guidance that larger, well-resourced organizations have. Talent and passion are everywhere, but access is not.
That reality is what drives my work and why I am building a nonprofit to provide free services to marginalized community organizations and small businesses. These groups are often expected to solve some of our most complex social problems, yet they are the least supported in terms of funding, systems, and technical assistance. They deserve more—and they deserve professionals who believe in their vision as much as they do.
Providing these services at no cost is not charity; it is an investment in the ecosystem. When small organizations have strong operational foundations, they stabilize neighborhoods, create jobs, support families, and build generational impact. When founders have someone in their corner helping them plan, organize, and fund their ideas, entire communities benefit.
What matters most to me is making sure that no one doing meaningful work is limited by a lack of access to support. I want The Lanyap Advisory—and the nonprofit I am building alongside it—to be the bridge that helps transform vision into impact. It is my way of giving “a little something extra” back to the communities that shaped me and ensuring that opportunities flow to the people who need them most.
