Inspiring Conversations with Ali Sobh of Sobh Orthopedics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Sobh.

Hi Ali, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story is rooted in hard work, faith, family, and a desire to serve others. I grew up watching my father, a Lebanese immigrant and businessman, build a life in America through perseverance and sacrifice, and those lessons shaped the way I approached my own journey. I pursued medicine with the goal of becoming an orthopaedic surgeon, ultimately attending Wayne State University School of Medicine, completing my orthopaedic training at Corewell Health in Royal Oak, and then fellowship training at Rush University in Chicago, where I developed a focus on minimally invasive and robotic hip and knee replacement. Today, I’m a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in joint replacement, and I’ve been fortunate to care for thousands of patients while building a practice and reputation centered on innovation, compassion, and excellent outcomes. Outside of the operating room, I’ve remained committed to giving back through free clinics, medical missions, community organizations, and philanthropic work, particularly supporting people facing displacement and hardship. Along the way, I’ve also developed a passion for entrepreneurship, investing, and building businesses that can create long-term value for my family and community. Above all, my journey has been about taking the opportunities my parents and this country gave me, working relentlessly to make the most of them, and trying to use whatever success I’ve achieved to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like most people who have built something meaningful, I’ve faced setbacks, uncertainty, difficult decisions, and periods where the path forward wasn’t obvious. Medicine itself is demanding, and becoming an orthopaedic surgeon required years of sacrifice, long hours, intense training, and constantly pushing myself to become better. After training, the challenges didn’t stop—they evolved into learning how to care for patients at the highest level while also navigating the realities of running a practice, leading a team, building a reputation, and balancing professional responsibilities with being a husband and father. There have been moments when I’ve questioned whether certain sacrifices were worth it, but those experiences ultimately taught me resilience and reinforced the importance of staying true to my values. I’ve learned that success is rarely about avoiding obstacles; it’s about continuing forward when things become difficult, learning from each challenge, and trusting that the setbacks are often part of the journey. My faith and my family have been especially important throughout that process, reminding me that success isn’t simply about how far you get, but what you do with the opportunities you’ve been given.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My practice is built around one simple idea: helping people get back to the life they want to live. I’m a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement, with a particular focus on robotic-assisted and minimally invasive joint replacement. Over the years, I’ve worked to build a practice that combines advanced technology and surgical precision with something that can sometimes get lost in modern medicine—the personal relationship between a physician and patient. We want our patients to feel that they are not simply another name on an operating schedule, but that their goals, concerns, and quality of life truly matter.

What sets us apart is the combination of specialized expertise, technology, experience, and a very personal approach to care. I’ve dedicated a significant portion of my career to joint replacement and continually look for ways to make surgery safer, less invasive, and more predictable, while also focusing on the entire patient experience before, during, and after surgery. I’m particularly proud of the trust we’ve built within the community and the thousands of patients who have entrusted us with something as important as their mobility and independence. Our brand is ultimately bigger than a procedure or a piece of technology—it represents trust, excellence, innovation, and the belief that patients deserve both exceptional surgical care and genuine human connection. I want people to know that when they come to us, our goal isn’t simply to replace a joint; it’s to help restore their ability to walk, work, travel, play with their children and grandchildren, and enjoy their life again.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
If there’s one thing I’d want readers to know beyond my professional life, it’s that I’m a family man at heart. As demanding as medicine and building a career can be, I try to make the most of the time I have with my wife and our children. Some of my favorite moments are the simplest ones—being together as a family, traveling, taking the kids on adventures, watching them grow, and creating memories that have nothing to do with medicine or work. My family keeps me grounded and reminds me why I work as hard as I do. Ultimately, I hope my story reflects more than professional success. I want to be remembered as someone who worked hard, stayed true to his values, served his community, took care of his patients, and most importantly, was present for the people he loved.
