Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyana Jackson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off doing nails out of my second bedroom in my house at the age of 18, once my clientele started building I knew I had to either rent a booth or find a suite. Searching for a salon suite on the Facebook marketplace, I came across a salon in the canton area (my first salon), a suite-based setting at the age of 19. After about 6 or 7 months running a business at that location, I thought to myself why stop there. driving down Michigan ave, I seen an abandoned salon and reached out to the owners a month or 2 later, I signed the lease to my second shop. and have been running both locations ever since, and I will be 21 in 3 months.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A lot of struggles I think came from most people thinking they could run over me because of my age, also trying to be a friend and not a boss.
As you know, we’re big fans of Nailsbytee BeautyBar. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Nailsbytee beauty bar is the name of salon both locations, I specialize in nails & I am mainly known for birthday freestyle sets I think most of my clients come for those. Nailsbytee beauty bar offers mani, pedis, full sets, braids, laces, feedins, men’s braids, locks, kids braids, and more
What would you say has been one of the most important les-sons you’ve learned?
I think the most important lesson I’ve learned through this whole process is to go with your first mind! Always you never know where it will take you in life or what you’ll get to experience.
