Hi Shadesha , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been dedicated to the healthcare field for about 14 years, during which I have gained experience in a variety of environments, including assisted living, memory care, rehab facilities, and group homes. These experiences deepened my understanding of the diverse needs of individuals and their families in various stages of care.
Driven to enhance my knowledge, I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in healthcare administration. This academic background equipped me with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system and ultimately inspired me to start my own home care agency four years ago. I am passionate about helping individuals age in place, allowing them to receive high-quality care in the comfort of their own homes, rather than having to move into a facility.
This mission not only fulfills my desire to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives but also allows me to be a leader in my community. I take pride in creating job opportunities for others while ensuring that our clients receive compassionate and professional care tailored to their specific needs. Knowing that our work helps individuals maintain their independence while improving their quality of life is incredibly rewarding and drives my passion every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Throughout my journey as a home care agency owner, I’ve faced several challenges. One of the most significant obstacles I found that learning things as I went along was both a challenge and a vital learning experience. Navigating regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with local and state laws was daunting, and I had to dedicate time to understand the intricacies of this aspect of the business. Another one has been maintaining consistent staffing. This prompted me to refine my interviewing and recruiting processes to ensure that I attract the right candidates who are not only qualified but also share our commitment to compassionate care.
Other challenges I faced included managing the financial aspects of the business, such as budgeting and billing, which can be overwhelming at first. Building relationships with referral sources and developing a strong marketing strategy to attract clients is another prevalent struggle. Finally, establishing a robust training program to ensure caregivers deliver high-quality, consistent care can also pose a significant challenge as the agency grows.
Overcoming these hurdles has helped me build a strong foundation for my agency and has further fueled my commitment to providing exceptional care in our community.

One surprising fact that many people may not know about me is that I once aspired to be an actor, driven by my passion for connecting with others through performance. I strive to bring creativity and empathy into my interactions with clients, ensuring each experience is meaningful. Additionally, I have a deep love for pottery, which allows me to express myself artistically and find tranquility in the creative process.
