Today we’d like to introduce you to Nina Henderson-Myers.
Hi Nina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began on the Northwest side of Detroit, MI. I was raised by a single mother who emphasized a strong work ethic in me at an early age. So at the age of 18, while working as a telemarketer at a boutique mortgage company and attending college, the owner approached me to be trained as a mortgage loan officer. The lessons I learned there about credit and homeownership turned out to be the guiding light to my purpose. When that mortgage company closed almost 2 years later, I decided to enter the auto industry to put myself through college, but I set a goal to purchase my first home at the age of 21. During the process of me purchasing my first home I had a poor experience with my first realtor, but the second realtor I worked with showed me the true value of representation and I decided at that point; I wanted to become a realtor to help people not go through the challenges I did in the home buying process. So to accomplish that, over the past 20+ years, I have built a career as a real estate broker, mortgage loan originator, and a certified credit specialist. Along the way, I earned several certifications and accreditations along with being certified as a residential appraiser which gave me a panoramic view of real estate and financial ecosystems. Founding my new company MI Legacy Solutions was about creating a multi-division business that simplifies the real estate acquisition process, provides creative mortgage loan options, helps enhance and leverage credit, and empowers families to build generational wealth.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. If anything, resilience has really defined my path. Earlier in my real estate career, I also worked full time at Chrysler, attended college, and I felt called to serve as a single foster parent to at risk teens to help guide them toward stability. Balancing work, school, and parenting was never easy, but juggling responsibilities was something I’d become accustomed to and also helped me identify with people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
In the male dominated industries I worked in I faced opposition because of my age, sex, and race. Each experience stretched me and, in the end, strengthened my resolve. After almost a decade at Chrysler, I decided it was time for a leap of faith. I accepted a buyout to focus on real estate full time. Within a month of leaving my job and health insurance, I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and couldn’t work for over a year. Even then, I kept going — continuing my studies at the University of Michigan–Dearborn to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business.
Although I obtained my real estate salesperson’s license years earlier, going into 2020 I decided to take it a step further and pursue my Broker’s License. I couldn’t have imagined that COVID 19, along with losing several close family members over a four year period, would slow me down. Yet every challenge gave me more determination to keep moving forward and honor the legacy of those who believed in me, instilling the values of “each one teach one.” Looking back, I’m grateful for those challenges. They gave me the time and perspective to build a company that truly helps people by meeting them where they are in their financial journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
MI Legacy Solutions is really more than a company — it’s a financial services ecosystem. We’re built to meet people where they are in their financial journey and help them move toward stability, asset protection, and generational wealth. Under one umbrella, we operate divisions in real estate, mortgage, credit enhancement, insurance, and provide nonprofit resource referrals; so families don’t just get one piece of the puzzle — they get a holistic framework, a true one- stop shop that simplifies and enhances the wealth building process.
We specialize in creating strategies that make complex financial and real estate decisions clear and actionable. That’s what we’re known for: turning what often feels overwhelming into step by step pathways people can actually follow. Whether it’s preparing someone for homeownership, selling or investing in real estate, protecting assets with insurance, guiding clients toward the most beneficial mortgage financing option, or helping to optimize credit profiles we design solutions that are practical and sustainable.
What sets us apart is that we don’t treat these areas as separate silos. We synchronize them so families and investors can see the full picture and avoid costly surprises. And we do it with equity in mind — making sure underserved communities have access to the same tools and knowledge as anyone else. We believe everyone deserves the same informed, high quality service experience, no matter their income level.
From a brand perspective, I am most proud of our voice and our mission. We don’t talk down to people or make them feel judged. We explain things plainly, we document every process, and we give clients playbooks they can reuse and even teach to their children. That’s how we live out our “each one teach one” philosophy. What I want readers to know is simple: MI Legacy Solutions is here to close socioeconomic gaps in financial literacy, generational wealth building, and access. For us, success isn’t just about transactions — it is about creating legacies that strengthen communities for generations. We’re excited to launch the MI Legacy Solutions family of companies (formerly known as Henderson-Myers Home Services) in Jan. of 2026 and facilitate real economic change throughout Southeast, MI
What matters most to you?
What matters to me most is building a lasting legacy that empowers families and communities to thrive for generations. MI Legacy Solutions was created with that vision in mind — to provide holistic frameworks so that wealth-building is not just possible, but sustainable and replicable.
My “why” has been shaped not only by facing societal bias and discrimination personally, but also by witnessing it in the field over the last two decades while serving Southeast Michigan. Those experiences revealed how deeply inequities affect access to opportunity.
So my mission is to help close socioeconomic gaps by providing financial literacy, wealth strategies, and tools that create pathways for as many individuals as we can to build wealth and stability. We also want to show people how to leverage the assets, income, credit, and tools they already have to strengthen their families economically. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that when one family gains stability, the ripple effect strengthens entire communities. Legacy, equity, and empowerment matter most to me because they are the foundation for generational change.
