Hidden Gems: Meet Naima Melonson of Young Socialites Clothier

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naima Melonson.

Hi Naima, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Devoted mother, entrepreneur, designer and so much more; I am proud to use my years of experience and knowledge to make an impact on the fashion industry and beyond.

My name is Naima D. Melonson. I started in fashion more than 27 years ago while working retail for various brands. I quickly realized I had a passion for clothing, so I began teaching myself how to design. After owning a women’s clothing line for many years, I made a switch to now focus on my children’s fashion brand called Young Socialites Clothiers. These years of experience have given me a deep understanding of the industry as a boutique retail expert.

My unique perspective and strong work ethic set my designs apart from others on the market. My clothes are now offered on some of the world’s largest wholesale marketplaces and platforms. I am also able to share my designs on a larger scale thanks to being a Certified Digital Marketer.

Being the natural multi-tasker and serial entrepreneur I am, I continually look for new ways to expand my reach. As a Creative Director, I have been able to produce more than 200 one-of-a-kind fashion shows for my own brand and others around the world. My production company, For the Love of Fashen, allows my team and I to create a vision and see it come to life for everyone to enjoy. With my vast business expertise, I look to inspire and motivate those who take part in the coaching programs I offer other entrepreneurs.

I have been honored to receive many accolades, including being featured in different publications over the years. I am the first African-American female to build a well-established children’s brand in Detroit, Michigan while also creating a fashion model magazine featuring my own designs. I also have been selected to take part in the Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator Program.

Clear vision, hard work, and a love for helping others are what drive me every day, and I can’t wait to see what new opportunities and collaborations are yet to come!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. Biggest challenges are being an independent business owner, doing everything on your own, and also establishing financial assistance to keep the business going.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
