Hidden Gems: Meet Milton Marentette of Integrity Import Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Milton Marentette.

Hi Milton, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started repairing cars and installing car audio out of the trunk of my car in the 90’s. I got my first DBA in 2000. I did mobile repair for local businesses and individuals in Traverse City and surrounding areas. In 2006 after the birth of my second child, I went to work for Lakeside Automotive in Traverse City. In September of 2010 I left Lakeside and went to work at Dave’s Garage until Feb 2014. After that, I started a repair shop of my own in Buckley, MI. After outgrowing the space, I purchased the current building on M-37 and opened up a new state of the art facility as Integrity Import Service in the fall of 2016. I studied at NMC and received an Associate’s degree and a Master Auto Technician Certificate. I am also a Master ASE tech with a L1 cert, a Master Certified State Technician, and have many other independent certifications.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not really. my first career in electronics repair didn’t really work out. Though it certainly helped get me where I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in electronic repairs. such as warning lights and drivability / engine performance issues. We can easily handle all aspects of auto and light truck repair. We have the same tech that the dealer does and much more. We are not limited to simply what a manufacturer allows or requires.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
So many opportunities to enjoy what northern michigan has to offer. It can be challenge business wise to staff for the population in the summer yet be able to keep everyone busy in the winter.
