Hi Michaela, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated Esthetics school in January 2024. Going into school I knew I wanted to become my own boss and build my own legacy through my work. Starting a business fresh out of school was and is tough. There are days where I completely want to give up, however, I know I was made to do this, and it shows. I’ve started to build a pretty steady and trusted clientele. I am thankful for those who have supported me from the beginning, and those who plan and continue to support me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business from scratch is never a smooth road, atleast i don’t believe it to be. Of course i have had the best support team, from my family, my fiance, my soon to be in laws and everyone in between. However, i don’t think anything truthfully prepares you for how much goes into building a business from scratch. I plan to educate other estheticians who want to go solo and how to navigate starting a business and becoming a boss babe. Trying to navigate federal vs state taxes, how to pay yourself, what products you need, and how to stay afloat are some challenges they don’t prepare you for. But i will say, with time, it becomes easier. It’s all self teaching and learning from those who want to be helpful and supportive. I truly believe that anything you set your mind to, you can achieve. As long as you want it to work, and make time to be the best you can possibly be, everything starts to fall into place.

We’ve been impressed with Lush Beauty Lounge, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lush Beauty Lounge is everything skin, brows, lashes, and waxing. I specialize in customized facials, including those for teens and preteens with acne struggles and how to navigate at home care versus effective skincare treatments and regimens. I also do brow laminations and tint, lash lift and tint, lash extensions, waxing of all sorts, and more to come! What sets me apart and what I have became known for is how i will treat each and every one of my clients as if they are family. I want the best for them, whether that’s helping them prepare for an event, or feel more confident in their own skin. My clients rave about my lymphatic drainage techniques through GuaSha and facial sculpting. I honestly think I have yet to see one client not fall asleep during it, and that makes me proud. I want the communities around me to know that Lush is a safe place for everyone and anyone. I strive to be the best, and most comforting to every client the minute they walk into my door. If you want your services to be silent, and take time to yourself, that’s no problem. If you want to vent and talk the whole time, I’m all ears always. I do monthly promo’s to meet everyone’s needs and wants, because i know sometimes it can be a challenge to indulge in self care, but trust me, it is needed and well deserved.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
With the cosmetic industry, everything is in a constant change. Product prices, service prices, and so on. For me, I don’t sell myself short, but it is not about the money to me. It is about building relationships with my clients, and watching them be confident and happy within themselves no matter what service they get. Cosmetic services are known for being a luxury, but i suspect that more individuals will become more educated about just how important it is to take care of yourself, and allow themselves to indulge. To be fair, skin is the largest organ of the human body, so it should be taken care of.
