Hidden Gems: Meet Luciana Barilari Bullentini of Vivace Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luciana Barilari Bullentini.

Luciana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Vivace started as a fashion store, back in Brazil in 2000. The place was a house, located in the most desirared quadrangle of the nice Cambuí neighborhood of Campinas – a city suburb of São Paulo. Taking population and dimensions apart (Campinas has probably almost 2 million habitants today and São Paulo around 13 million), it would be something comparable to Birmingham & Detroit. Everything was going fine, I loved the idea of creating my own collections, being in contact with my clients but it wasn’t enough. My desire to grow was bigger than “Maison Vivace”, I wanted to see different things and explore more horizons. In a nutshell, from there I moved to São Paulo city, started working in a Fashion Showroom full of real established Designers, shift gears to study and designing fabrics, egressed in automotive Color & Materials world, literally travelled the whole World in regards to that (more than 20 countries) and decided to land in Detroit in late 2014.

As I like to paraphrase “Design is not a profession, is a behaviour”, it was inevitable to be surrounded by fashion designers, Artists, Decor Designers, Architects, Music producers, and all sorts of creatives, so middle of 2019 things started to move naturally and a broader spectrum of Vivace started to raise. Today, under Vivace Company family, we have all those professionals, carefully curated and united in the same mission of transform human perspective, enhancing the power of Art in our lives, shifting the value of what is luxury nowadays.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It is never a smooth road, the universe include some roadblocks along the way to make sure that’s what you really want! lol Every beginning, or new beginning, is full of doubts and self-questioning… if we are in the right path? If is the right decision? If investors come in, what now??? Am I going to handle? Are we going to succeed as expected?

And not only this, it’s a full-time dedication, entrepreneur mindset mode on always and until things start to hump up, lots of abdication.

I believe the hardest part is find the balance in between keep the faith that everything will be ok and not surrender in negative thoughts or first roadblock. Just keep going and smiling.

As you know, we’re big fans of Vivace Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Vivace Company, or “Vivace family” how we use to refer, is a house of creators, more focused in Fine Arts nowadays. Even though not all artists know each other, we all have something in common – exquisite talents from different parts of the world under the same representation brand. But we are not limited to offer to the client pieces of art, photography, and/or at sometimes, fashion items. It’s a lifestyle, it’s a shared passion for Art or imminent desire to understand more about it that open venues for conversations, projects, workshop, and events.

Today we have permanent in the House names like Leonardo Dolfini, Aleksandra Ilic Bjelica, Mariana Gadelha, Helena dal, Andrea Tarelow, Nikriva, Marcelo Gioielle, SR Design among other professionals invited for special occasions or projects.

The experience is absolutely different from enter a store, gallery, or go online and buy a picture, wait until delivered, or take home and install by yourself. We want the customers to feel connected, to feel proud about what they are acquiring, to be an extension of their personality, to open their eyes to something unique, and start being part of the Art Collectors club.

And the way we do it is offering a combination of service and the beautiful artworks available. We strongly believe art should be accessible to everyone once art can save, so first is identify the customer need. It could be a design project in their house/office where they want the new artwork as focal point, it could be a determination of what would be more affordable: an original, limited edition, or giclée printing (all options accompanied by a certificate of originality), the project could start from scratch with a custom commissioned piece of Art in specific dimensions defined by the buyer… infinity ways to share our expertise and passion.

By saying that, I’m obviously not alone in this process. Today we have Juliana Soffner as associated, she has a degree from

the most acclaimed Interior Design schools from Italy, located in Milan, Instituto Europeo do Design (IED) and her focus is to transform a house into a home, with the most bespoke colors, arts, furnitures and more. Today, she takes the lead in most of the decor projects. Also, we have stablished partnerships in Detroit area for services such as professional framing, helping to bring businesses to the community.

Not only this, besides having presence online through our webpage or Instagram account, we promote what we call “Art Exhibitions Party” to encourage and bring people closer to art, not restrict to Metro Detroit area but also itinerant spots in important cities for the Art scenery such as Miami, New York, and Milan. In those kind of events, it’s easy to understand how fashion, fine art, photography, and music are integrated, it’s wonderful to observe the connections and how can one Nich complement another.

Also, in every edition, we try to promote local talents and/or social projects that are active in prol of the community. “Faces of Detroit” by Scott Schaible was one that participated in the last edition released in Detroit.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Trust your instincts, trust yourself once this will reflect on the way people see you but most importantly, be prepared financially. Do not invest everything you have immediately, it may takes months and sometimes years to be in a comfortable place so don’t let the daily bills kill your dreams. Be patient and gentle with your journey.
