Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz McVoy.
Hi Liz, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
We rang in the New Year and I thought to myself, “2020, the year I finally start my business.” Little did I know it was going to be the best timing and the worst timing… When the pandemic swept through the US, I saw businesses move online as fast as they could and people were relying on video, email, and basically, any digital platform to get their message out and connect.
I saw a gap and knew I could use my 10+ years in video marketing, branding, and design to help other business owners stand out online. So, while safe at home during a worldwide pandemic, I decided to launch my business… I was also 37 weeks pregnant with baby number two, parenting an energetic two-year-old, and balancing a full-time career as a Video Producer and Web Designer.
Long story short, I launched a course that teaches entrepreneurs how to create video content for their business in April, I had my son in May, and then I began coaching other women in July 2020. By April 2021, I’d scaled my coaching and agency business to the point of resigning from my 9-5 job and working in my business full time!
Today, I run a brand experience agency and coach other creatives on how to build connections that cut through the noise through video, branding, and marketing. My days are full of consulting clients, video editing, brand + web design, and of course, time with my family.
I’m in charge of my own success – and my own definition of what that looks like in my life – and I’m deeply passionate about helping other women do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Wouldn’t it be great if life was as easy as social media highlight reels make it seem? Like many business owners, I’m no stranger to imposter syndrome, anxiety, and perfectionism. You can have the most AMAZING skillset, but if you don’t believe in yourself you cannot sell yourself.
Other areas of struggle include going through seasons of growth where one idea or launch didn’t happen as planned. It forces you to slow down, take a magnifying glass to your business, and ask tough questions like, “What could I have done differently?” Or “Is this what I really want to do?”
It’s easy to avoid those questions/reflections because it’s like unpacking a super full suitcase. Once you start taking things out, they’re probably not going to go back in the same way and that can be scary. Change can be scary.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Liz McVoy Creative LLC?
I’m the founder and CEO of Liz McVoy Creative, a brand experience agency that specializes in helping you stand out online through video, branding, and marketing. I built LMC around the idea that stories are what connect us, so I often partner with creative companies that want out-of-the-box, story-based marketing content.
In other words, we don’t just create pretty websites and trendy video content, we cut to the heart of your brand and unearth your story so that it will connect with your audience! It’s our mission to help you show up authentically, share your expertise, and tell stories that matter so that you can build an impactful, profitable, sustainable business that supports your big life dreams.
AGENCY SERVICES INCLUDE Brand Development, Web Design, Marketing Strategy, and Business Consulting. MENTORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: I run an intimate marketing and messaging program for female entrepreneurs, called the Attraction Marketing Accelerator.
