Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Wiersma.
Hi Lisa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I have been in some aspect of customer service my whole life. Prior to real estate, I worked for over 15 years as a customer service advisor at an automotive dealership. While I enjoyed meeting and helping new customers, there was always something missing, and I was never really excited about going to work each day. For years, I had tossed around the idea of real estate, and in 2016, an unexpected series of events with my last employer gave me the opportunity to take the leap and go for it. In conjunction with being new to the career, motivated, and driven, I was very fortunate to connect with an amazing broker/mentor who took me under his wing and got me off to a great start. I have always been a very competitive person, so I am always challenging myself for ways to build and grow my business while also better serving my clients. Since 2016 I have been very thankful to have all the right people in life that support my vision and have helped me succeed. I finally found my calling and am doing what I love.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been times when things get challenging. The biggest struggle for me is usually dealing with the ups and downs of the real estate market. The busier I am, the better I am, and when we hit our slower seasons, I really need to regroup, refocus, and get my head in the right place. Each year in this business, I have become better at coping with these fluctuations. Life and careers will always have good and bad days as well as ups and downs. I believe that it is all about how we take those challenges, learn from them, and become stronger people for it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am an Associate Broker, Realtor® with Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt and going on 8 years of experience in assisting sellers, buyers as well knowledge in Real Estate investing. I believe in building long-term relationships with people and genuinely love helping them reach their goals. I strive to earn their trust and make sure they have the best experience possible when it comes to buying or selling a house. I always put people ahead of profit, and I think they can really recognize that. The brand I have worked on building over the last several years is Beyond Home Sales. I created this because my relationship with my clients, family, and friends doesn’t stop at the sale.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
If you are looking for a mentor, my best recommendation is to find someone that you click with, is easy for you to talk to, and they share the same type of morals and outlook on life. A mentor should always be someone who sees the potential in you and knows how to bring that out.
