Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Little.
Hi Leah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi! My name is Leah Little, the Founder of Mindful Empowerment, PLLC. I’d love to share my background and the journey of how our organization came to be!
I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2008, then my Masters degree in clinical social work in 2009 both from the University of Michigan.
Since completing my studies, I have spent the last 15+ years working with mental health. I have served a diverse population including teens, adults, veterans, and people with addiction and various mental health concerns. In this time, it became clear that trauma, chronic stress, and anxiety were serious issues that were not adequately treated with medication or talk therapy alone. That is when I completed training to become a registered yoga teacher.
This is when Mindful Empowerement, PLLC was created! Mindful Empowerment provides licensed psychotherapy in-person in Sterling Heights, and virtually for anywhere in Michigan or Illinois. We have also begun a Trauma-Focused Yoga program in Ferndale.
Our Trauma-Focused Yoga program offers workshops, group classes, and private sessions. The program provides education on trauma/stress/anxiety, the nervous system/brain/polyvagal theory, and evidence-based somatic interventions for coping with mental health challenges. Our mission is to assist people in healing mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, the road has been smooth sailing! We have been welcomed by the Ferndale community, partnering with local businesses to reach people who could benefit from our services and to provide a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for healing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mindful Empowerment, pllc?
The most important value of Mindful Empowerment is Inclusivity. We welcome all people and all bodies. Our psychotherapy is non-judgemental and compassionate. Our yoga program is accessible for all people; big, small, light, dark, all genders, and differently abled.
We also strive to provide services that have been proven to be effective, backed by science and research. In the wellness space, there are many services and products offered that promise much but deliver little. We uphold the value of providing support that will truly help our clients reach new levels of peace and wellbeing.
What are your plans for the future?
We hope to continue expanding our Trauma-Focused Yoga program with more weekly classes, quarterly workshops, and in-service trainings for other providers and organizations.
