Hidden Gems: Meet Lauren Carobine of ReNewed Life Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Carobine.

Hi Lauren, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My chiropractic story began when I was 19. I grew up figure skating and accumulated a lot of falls over the years. I had been experiencing low back pain, so my mom brought me to see a chiropractor. After one adjustment I was hooked. I started job shadowing at an office and worked with them throughout the remainder of undergraduate school until I moved away for chiropractic school.

I went to chiropractic school in Georgia and moved back home after finishing classes to do an externship with the VA hospital in Iron Mountain. I absolutely loved my time working with the veterans. That demographic of patients has always held a special place in my heart, so it was such a wonderful experience being able to intern there.

After finishing up with my externship and graduating from chiropractic school, I worked in the Appleton area for a few years at two amazing chiropractic offices. I was able to see a large variety of patients and found my passion for pediatric and family wellness. I loved seeing the difference chiropractic care made for kiddos, pregnant moms, and the whole family! I learned so much in my time there that when my husband got a job back in Iron Mountain, I was able to take the leap and start my own practice. It has been a crazy ride, but I am so thankful for the path that led me here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
With anything there were a few bumps along the way but nothing that wasn’t smoothed out with some work.
The beginning of trying to open the practice was a whirlwind. We moved back to the area at the beginning of September, I closed on the office space in mid-September, was delayed in opening until mid-November and married my husband in December. Despite planning for a new business and a wedding within months of each other, it could have been a lot worse!

The biggest hiccup was waiting for the adult chiropractic table to be delivered. I had started business planning in June and will admit I am a little type A when it comes to organizing and planning, so by the time the building was mine I was pretty much ready to go. I would have been able to open the doors at the beginning of October, but the table took longer than planned to get delivered. It was a bit of a struggle finding things to occupy my time until it was ready but looking back now, I am thankful I had a little down time before opening.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about ReNewed Life Chiropractic?
I am a family chiropractor that specializes in pediatrics, prenatal, and family wellness. I think this sets me apart from other offices because I don’t just do pain-based chiropractic care. I work a lot with kiddos that have sensory or emotional regulation troubles, tongue and lip ties, constipation, ear infections, general wellness, the list goes on! I absolutely love seeing kids and babies and seeing the difference even one adjustment can make in their lives. Kids need chiropractic care too, it’s not just for adults.
I have a lot of pregnant women who come in and want to optimize their birth experience and be the most comfortable they can be during their pregnancy. Getting to help them through their journey is always an amazing experience.
I try to always meet my patients where they are at and set their care plan based on what their specific needs are, you won’t find a cookie cutter approach here because no two people are the same!

I love seeing my patient’s families grow and am so thankful to be part of their journeys. My favorite part of my job is seeing the changes in my patient’s lives that might seem small to someone else but make a huge difference in that specific patient’s life.

I think one of the coolest parts of my office is the name. While it seems simple enough, it means a few different things to me. Anyone, no matter their age or health has the option to renew their life and improve their health. I wanted to show there wasn’t a limit to that and it is never too late to make a change. The capital ‘N’ and green color in ‘New’ was intentional because I wanted to emphasize the fact that chiropractic care is for new life also. One of my favorite quotes is “it’s never too late to start living well” and I wanted to embody that with in my business name.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important thing I have learned in my journey is to give yourself grace. I know that I am my toughest critic, but things always have a way of working themselves out and sometimes you just have to ride it out.
