Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Ingersoll.
Hi Lacey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Fitch Dance Company has been a cherished part of the community since 1979, originally founded by Jeff and Kathleen Fitch as Fitch’s School of Dance. Now owned and directed by their granddaughter, Lacey Ingersoll, the studio continues to build on its rich legacy while embracing fresh creativity and modern dance training.
With over 20 years of dance experience and more than a decade of teaching, Lacey leads the studio with a deep love for the art form and a strong sense of community. Fitch Dance Company offers classes in jazz, lyrical/contemporary, tap, hip hop, ballet, Celtic, Latin, musical theater and more—welcoming dancers of all ages and skill levels.
Known for its award-winning choreography, supportive atmosphere, and multigenerational roots, Fitch Dance Company is more than just a place to dance—it’s a place to grow, express, and belong.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Fitch Dance Company has been a cornerstone of the local dance community for decades. Now led by Lacey Ingersoll, the studio continues to honor its legacy while evolving with the times.
Like many small businesses, Fitch Dance Company has faced its share of challenges—from the uncertainties of COVID-19 to the ups and downs of running a family business, all while navigating personal life stresses and the realities of entrepreneurship. But through every obstacle, one thing has remained constant: a deep passion for dance and a strong sense of community.
Lacey leads the studio with heart, resilience, and a commitment to providing a space where dancers of all ages feel seen, supported, and inspired. Fitch Dance Company is a place where creativity and connection thrive—even in the toughest times.
More than just a studio, we’re a family—and we’re proud to continue dancing through it all.
We’ve been impressed with Fitch Dance Company , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fitch Dance Company is a multigenerational, family-rooted dance studio that has been serving our community since 1979. Originally founded by my grandparents, Jeff and Kathleen Fitch, the studio has always stood for more than just great technique—it’s been a place where dancers feel supported, encouraged, and connected. I, Lacey Ingersoll, proudly took over the studio in 2018, continuing their legacy while bringing in fresh energy and modern approaches to dance education.
We specialize in jazz, lyrical/contemporary, tap, and hip hop, and also offer instruction in ballet, Celtic, Latin, musical theater and other styles. Our students range from young beginners to competitive dancers, and we pride ourselves on creating a space that supports every dancer’s journey—whether they’re dancing for fun, for growth, or for the stage.
What truly sets us apart is the heart behind everything we do. We’ve faced our fair share of challenges over the years—navigating the impact of COVID-19, personal life changes, and the natural ups and downs of running a small business. But through it all, we’ve remained committed to our core values: community, creativity, and connection.
Fitch Dance Company is known for our strong sense of family, our award-winning choreography, and the multi-generational ties that keep dancers coming back—many of our former students now bring their own children to dance here. We offer a welcoming environment where every dancer feels seen and valued, and we’re incredibly proud of the love and legacy that lives within these studio walls.
At the heart of our brand is the belief that dance can be transformative. Whether you’re joining us for your first class or taking the stage for your final recital, we’re here to help you grow not only as a dancer, but as a person.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
1. Enroll or refer a friend: One of the most impactful ways to support us is by joining our dance family—or encouraging others to do so! Whether it’s a toddler’s first dance class or a teen looking for a competitive edge, we have classes for all ages and levels.
2. Attend our performances: Our recitals and showcases are open to the public and are a great way to experience the joy, talent, and dedication of our dancers firsthand.
3. Partner with us: We love collaborating with local schools, businesses, and organizations! Whether it’s a performance at a community event, co-hosting a fundraiser, or offering dance workshops, we’re always open to partnerships that uplift the arts and community spirit.
4. Sponsor a dancer or event: Businesses or individuals can support students in need, help fund costuming, or sponsor competitions and productions. It’s a great way to give back while getting exposure within our loyal studio community.
5. Share the love: Following us on social media, leaving a positive review, or simply spreading the word about our studio helps us reach more local families and keeps the legacy of Fitch Dance Company thriving.
We’re proud to be part of such a supportive, vibrant community—and we’re always looking for new ways to connect, collaborate, and grow together.
