Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher Laukus
Hi Kristopher, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Kris Laukus formed K&C in 2018 after being disappointed on the quality of work and the customer service provided by other local companies that he both worked for and had experiences with. After 2 decades of experience in landscaping and handyman/construction services it was time to set off on my own and create an honest, hardworking company that can offer the whole “Kit and Caboodle”. Hence the name K&C Landscaping and Handyman Services. Where we can offer anything from landscaping maintenance, land clearing, tree trimming/removal, drywall, insulation, painting, flooring, reconstruction, to project management position. This allows our customers to have the option of hiring one company for their project, instead of having 5-6 companies to get one job completed. There are jobs that require other licensed professionals to be contracted out such as electrical, plumbing and roofing. In these circumstances K&C has a list of local business that we work with on a regular basis, that have great customer service to match their work. Making bigger projects such as additions/renovations a walk in the park for our customers. Having K&C project manage and handle all the nitty gritty details of your dream home projects. K&C keeps the customer updated with progress reports, pictures, videos and facetiming for meetings if needed.
K&C wasn’t just made to provide honest work for the communities of Southwest Michigan but to also provide a second or first chance for those who may need a little help finding their purpose or place in this world. As Kris knows more than most, we all deserve a chance or two in this life. K&C encourages all forms of life to apply for employment with us. We have a family like atmosphere for the shop is located on Kris’ family’s land in St. Joseph/Royalton township. K&C understands that life isn’t perfect and neither are any of us. We don’t ask for perfections from our employees, just progression in their day to day lives. K&C was built on bettering ourselves one day at a time, to make sure we did better than we did the day before. We make sure that all our employees are trained and certified for the work we providing, but if they happen to have some baggage with them, we make sure we have room for them entirely. We offer therapy to all our employees to make sure we are progressing in our business and our personal life. K&C is a company that is clearing the way for a brighter, healthier future, where balance with mother nature and the community we services is our top priority.
Being born and raised in southwest Michigan, Kris holds a special place in his heart for the natural beauty and it’s residents that makes it such a joy
to be apart of and to call home. K&C has gone through its fair share of storms in the handful of years being in service, with it only strengthing and refining our business to serve the local communities better. We are looking forward to continuing our services for decades to come and to raise the level of quality being offered in the local areas that we call home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since K&C opened in 2018 it has been a pretty steady climbing upward the “career mountain”. K&C has had its fair share of difficult jobs, clients and challenges like any other company just starting off. Only to strength and refine our services we offer to the public. As a company we look forward to new jobs that look to challenge and push our skills to the limits. To open up new pathways to broaden our services. K&C has its sights for the long hall, that we are always looking to services our customers/community better. To make K&C a house hold name in Southwest Michigan. That no matter what obstacles come our way that K&C will rise above them and come out better for it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
From day one K&C’s goal has been to be an honest service for our community, but to also be there for its employees and their families. In the eyes of Kris, the only way a community can rise above negativity is by working on ourselves as individuals. To make sure the next generation has better and more opportunities than the generation before. To do so we must look within and overcome the dark scary places that we all try to hide. By looking into the obess within all of us, we are given the opportunity to overcome what is designed to destroy us. That’s when we will truly see the light within all of us and build a community to represent it.
Beside being a family company, K&C also prides its self on our hard working ethics and our ability to offer such a wide range of services with professional employees and results. Being able to handle the whole “Kit-and-Caboodle” requires K&C to keep its doors open to all walks of life and abilities. Always looking to widen and strength our services to make projects easier and more cost efficient for our customers. Life is expensive enough without some company trying to charge you an arm and a leg to keep your property/house up to date and looking the way you want. The owner of K&C grew up with parents that were teachers and coaches. Even though their impact to the community was priceless, like most teachers, their pay check did not represent their efforts.
So on that fact alone K&C looks to be financially reasonable to our clients instead worrying about our profits. The good honest people of Southwest Michigan deserve to live comfortably and to have an honest reasonable Handman serves to call on.
K&C honors it’s veterans, both active and inactive, by offering year round discounts to them and their family members. Along with first responders, teachers, hospital workers and local business owners. Growing up in a family that was very involved with its community, it sits at the heart of K&C to give back to its community anyway possible.
Besides having K&C, Kris Laukus is also building towards opening an animal shelter in or near the Benton Harbor Mi area. That will cater to abandoned/abused animals, along with farm/domestic animals for daycare, grooming, training and boarding. Needless to say he has big dreams, with the ambitious and courage to go along with it, for the state of Michigan.
