Hidden Gems: Meet Ketty Zamora of Lakeshore Shuttle & Tours

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ketty Zamora.

Hi Ketty, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started 2018, when my husband started loosing interest in his Landscape Architecture profession at the time.

I am a Hospitality professional, and had always thought ‘Transportation’ was the missing piece for our small towns to have a whole Destination Infrastructure.
At the time, I was in the Executive Team of one of the best Golf Courses in the country, and could feel how the lack of Transportation options was a big obstacle for visitors. It almost prevent them to get to know a little bit more in our area, because they had to stay in the resort property.

I told Dustin he had the perfect personality to drive passengers around to different spots in the area so they can see how beautiful Northern Michigan is.
I pitched the idea of buying a small van and start a small Transportation business and see how it does. – Lakeshore Shuttle and Tours was (luckily) very well received.

We quickly ran into the need of hiring drivers and buying more vehicles as part of the growing process.

We made a commitment of hiring amazing local individuals and paying a
decent living to create a committed team.

In 2023, Dustin was no longer able to keep up with the driving and the administration duties, so we decided it was time for me to quit my job to take over the customer service and administration of Lakeshore Shuttle, which was a big decision for me because I really liked my previous job.

As of 2025, we have Two 14-passenger vans and a Premium SUV that offers transportation options for Events, Golf Groups, Corporate Retreats, Wine Tours, Airport Transportation, etc.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Our biggest challenge has always been to stay busy through the winter months.
Michigan is such a seasonal state for Tourism, that keeping busy in the winter is a real financial struggle.

How do you think about luck?
I think we were lucky to HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY to try something that we
weren’t sure if it was going to work.

I think we were lucky to have realized we live in a beautiful area with so much to do and see. It was evident for us that visitors just needed to explore a little bit to want to come back.
