Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenisha Johnson.
Hi Kenisha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Kenisha Johnson the owner and founder of Legacy Tax Solutions. Legacy Tax Solutions is a tax preparation and advisory firm. We also do business start up and credit restoration. I started my entrepreneurial journey during my time as a CNA at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. During that time I would help care for the elderly inside of their homes while also attending college to become a nurse. At that time I didn’t expect entrepreneurship would be my calling. I was a single mother trying to make ends meet for my child not expecting a business to be my long term career. In 2019 I lost my job due to a car accident and my hours for my clients started to shorten as their healing process had gotten better. So I started a home cleaning service called Annettes named after my late grandmother, and I also begin tax preparation services at a company called Tax Gurus. Both of my careers were taken off pretty quickly. I was not expecting that. I begin to slowly pivot from the cleaning industry turning tax preparation into a full time career path. After many years of going through trial and errors with other companies I decided to start my own firm. Revisioning customers service, community engagement, integrity, and transparency. I wanted my clients and my partners to experience what I wanted in a company. So far Im more than happy to have achieved my goal.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled a lot actually,I honestly thank God a lot. Without him I probably would’ve gave up. I have lost some friends a long the way. I have lost money and not a little bit of money lol. My main struggle was seeing me inside of people. But at the same time it built my character. So I really dont have no complaints.
We’ve been impressed with Legacy Tax Solutions, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a tax preparation firm and tax software company. We also provide credit consulting, business development, business funding and Tax advisory.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I honestly couldn’t did this without my clients and my team especially Allexs. She’s been there since I started this company. I believe she was the one who encouraged me to do it. She is my team leader and manager of my firm.
