Hidden Gems: Meet Jourdan Pauley of Beautifully Candid Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jourdan Pauley. 

Hi Jourdan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi there! 

I am Jourdan Pauley, the owner/photographer at Beautifully Candid Photography based out of Otisville, Michigan.  

I am Flint born and raised and am a passionate, goofy, fun-loving wife, mama, and friend who left her nursing career 2 years ago to master her dream of photography. As much as I loved caring for others, nursing became a very mentally and emotionally heavy career, especially raising our special needs child. I decided to really hustle my business so that I could live my true dream full-time while having more space and flexibility with raising my children. 

I love staying active and helping people with their fitness journeys, laughing often, and connecting with good energy type of people. Oh, and I love love love Mexican food. Especially a margarita or two! 😉 

My husband Bill and I met 12 years ago and were married in 2018 at a beautiful barn venue. We were blessed with four amazing children; my stepdaughter Makayla, 15; Harper, 10; William, 8; and Jameson, 5. We love raising our family in the countryside. My guilty pleasures are sipping my morning coffee on our big front porch swing, watching the kids ride their quads and dirt bikes, having bonfires with smores, reading self-help books, and just documenting my children and all the nature surrounding us. 

My photography brand is natural, vibrant, & timeless. I look forward to capturing all the beauty 2023 has to offer! God bless! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life has not always been easy. The struggles of nursing school and then switching gears to learn how to run a business had many many ups and downs, all while raising 4 children. Our youngest son, Jameson, who is 5 years old was diagnosed with a genetic condition and later, Autism. After dozens and dozens of appointments with many type of specialists, they found he had a duplication of his chromosome P352. He is now on a few research lists at top hospitals to try and figure out the cause. I can’t even explain what he has brought to our life. He has taught us how to fight hard, how to love deeper, and how to have patience like a Saint. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Beautifully Candid Photography?
I find so much fulfillment being in the presence of positive people. People who truly see photography as an investment. I have always been an extrovert, who is outgoing and loving. I am definitely a hugger, haha. That is what sets me apart from other people. My goal is to always form long-lasting experiences with my clients. To make them feel like family and to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera. Building their trust is so important to me.
