Hidden Gems: Meet Jaisha Nunn of SimplyEmerie/EmeriesCollection

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaisha Nunn.

Hi Jaisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I’ve been doing hair my whole life; I’ve always done my cousins’ and friends’ hair in middle school and all throughout high school. I always had a passion for hair, especially because my grandmother died of breast cancer, she ended up losing her hair, unfortunately, but before even while she was sick, she always kept her hair braided, so I guess that’s where it started, I am an upcoming cosmetology student specializing in braids, natural hair, and color. I’m an entrepreneur as well, selling the BEST hair oil, silk bonnets, and the highest quality of hair bundles, eventually looking to expand my business to help chemo/cancer patients or just anyone experiencing hair loss. That always fueled my passion for hair even more; I love making people feel like theirselves again and overall beautiful and confident again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely haven’t been a smooth road for me, especially dealing with my own thoughts, self-doubts, and not really having the family support that’s ideal, even though I’m more than grateful for the love and support I do have and gained over the years. It’s also a lot of people in the beauty industry doing what I do, so sometimes you get overlooked; through it all, I learned to persevere, never give up, and to just do it! They’re always watching regardless even if you can’t see them! So just do it no matter if you scared, don’t have the resources always follow your dreams, and stay consistent; you will never get bad results from staying consistent. So, with that being said, I definitely try to stand out and be a healthy hair advocate.

As you know, we’re big fans of SimplyEmerie/EmeriesCollection. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m an upcoming cosmetology student specializing in knotless braids, natural hair, and color and creating custom blends. I also sell hair growth oil, silk bonnets, and the highest quality of raw Cambodian hair bundles. I feel like my passion and work ethic sets me apart from most stylists; I’m proud to say that I’m VERY versatile and can do anything I set my mind to; I’m also proud to say that I can work with any hair texture and race. I also have growing hands; I really rake the time out to properly nurture and braid my client’s hair. I can say my work and products speak for themselves to the longevity of my braids to my amazing natural hair oil that’ll leave your hair and scalp healthier and growing thicker than ever!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
CHANCES MAKE CHAMPIONS!! Do not be afraid to reach out and ask questions, it’s hard finding someone to really genuinely be there for you and to guide you correctly, but I definitely had to overcome my fear of reaching out and putting myself out there because I realize if I don’t take those chances, I will always remain in the same position, reaching out and making connections is very important and helpful to me because just knowing the right person can open so many doors and put you in rooms you never dreamed of!
