Hidden Gems: Meet Geneva McCloud, MPH of Favorable Well-Being, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geneva McCloud, MPH.

Hi Geneva, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began in 2008 when I dedicated my life to Christ while attending The Word of Truth Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Robert E. Garner, Ph.D.. and First Lady Melestine Garner. Bishop Garner has long been a strong advocate for higher education and personal development, and his commitment to academic excellence profoundly influenced me, as it has many others.

One evening, during a time of quiet reflection, I felt a clear and unmistakable prompting: “Nutrition.” That single word became the catalyst for a transformative decision. I returned to school to formally pursue an education in nutrition, driven by both conviction and vision. As I immersed myself in my studies, I became deeply passionate about the science of healthy living and felt compelled to share that knowledge in ways that could meaningfully impact others.

With faith as my foundation, I stepped into unfamiliar territory and used social media as my initial platform. At the time, I did not have a network of entrepreneurs or a clear roadmap for building a business. What I did have was intention and belief. I trusted that if I moved forward with purpose, the right relationships and opportunities would align with my path—and they did. Social media became a powerful connector, introducing me to visionaries, creatives, and leaders who inspired me and helped refine my sense of purpose.

Today, I am blessed to facilitate programs for men, women, and children, teaching the importance of making healthy food choices, nourishing the body, and cultivating lifelong wellness. What began as a personal calling has become a platform to uplift others. My journey is proof that when faith meets action, purpose unfolds—and lives are changed.

While earning my Master of Public Health, I concentrated on deepening my understanding of the pathophysiology of hypertension (high blood pressure), a major risk factor for stroke. Because hypertension often presents with no noticeable symptoms and is commonly referred to as the “silent killer,” regular monitoring is essential. Given my family history of cardiovascular disease, I was especially motivated to explore evidence-based, preventive strategies to reduce risk and promote long-term heart health.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Becoming an entrepreneur is both rewarding and deeply challenging. There are days filled with optimism and progress, and others that test your resilience in unexpected ways. One of my most difficult personal challenges was losing confidence in my own voice. I found myself overwhelmed by competing demands and responsibilities, and over time, I began to lose sight of who I was and who I was becoming. It was a painful and humbling realization.

In that vulnerable season, I made the intentional decision to invest in myself by hiring a speaking coach. That choice proved to be a pivotal turning point. Through her guidance, I was able to reclaim my voice, rebuild my confidence, and step back into my purpose with clarity and courage. She continually challenged me to embrace my calling and lead with authenticity.

I am especially grateful to my friend and coach, Zsa Zsa Hubbard, whose support and belief in me helped shape this chapter of my journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am especially proud of the partnership with the Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance (CRCAA). In June of last year, Favorable Well-Being was awarded a grant from Kenyetta Campbell, CEO of CRCAA. This opportunity allowed me to lead a comprehensive health initiative designed to introduce older adults to preventive lifestyle strategies aimed at improving quality of life, particularly in relation to high blood pressure.

Participants engaged in educational sessions on various heart-healthy dietary approaches, fitness instruction, and evidence-based medical guidance provided by Dr. Herbert Lawrence Isaac II, MD, and Dr. NiJuanna Irby-Johnson, MD, MBA.
Our expert panel included featured chef Que, owner of In the Kitchen with Que; Halima Curry, MPT; Carmen McCloud, Food Service Coordinator; Milan S. Robinson owner of Xtreme Hip Hop; and Bria K. Gordon, BA, MAC, JS (Bee Coach), Monique K. Bradford Family Nurse Practitioner and Angela Felder, LPN. Together, this multidisciplinary team delivered practical, culturally responsive strategies that empowered participants to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

I truly value the trust our participants place in us to deliver effective programs that provide meaningful information they can share with their family and friends. One participant, LaShonda Jack, traveled from Flint to attend the workshop and shared how much she learned during the experience—especially reflecting on Que’s powerful quote, “If you don’t check it, you can’t change it.”

LaShonda also expressed her appreciation for the internist, Dr. Irby-Johnson, MD, MBA, noting how impactful it was to hear her emphasize the importance of Black women advocating for themselves in matters of health and wellness.
Aqua Richards shared similar sentiments, stating, “This was an awesome event!! So happy I was able to attend. All the presentations were noteworthy. The Cooking With Que segment has me alternating how to season my food and her vegan food options were very tasty. The exercise segment with Coach B was inspiring as well.”

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I invite everyone to stay tuned as I step into an exciting new chapter of my professional journey. I am honored to appear as one of the judges on the Making The Mogul Reality TV Show, a dynamic series that highlights innovation, leadership, and the entrepreneurial spirit.

The pilot episode was released on Christmas Eve and is now available for viewers to enjoy. This opportunity represents a meaningful extension of my work, allowing me to support and evaluate emerging entrepreneurs while sharing insight gained through years of experience in health advocacy, leadership, and business development. Special thank you to Silas Cobb III and Total Entertainment Radio for the opportunity.
