Hidden Gems: Meet Gabrielle Coppersmith of Yoga Bellaire

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Coppersmith.

Hi Gabrielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Yoga Bellaire was first started in 2018 by the original owner, Rebecca Rankin. Rebecca had recently moved to Bellaire and wanted to create a space that embodied movement, mindfulness and community. In 2020 Yoga Bellaire experienced a huge transition, as the pandemic had impacted the business and every one personally. Yoga Bellaire lost its space and had been trying to find a new location over the next few years. In January 2025 Gabrielle Coppersmith took over the business with a determination to keep the flame of yoga alive in Bellaire. At the time the business was located within the Spillway lodges, but was struggling to make roots there. In August of 2025 Gabrielle moved the yoga studio into the Inspire Health and Chiropractor Center. This relationship of wellness and community was just what Yoga Bellaire had been hoping to build all along. We still currently operate out of the chiropractor center and have expanded our offerings to include yoga and fitness classes, sound journeys, Day-cations and the occasional pop-up events!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle was finding the right location. Between 2020-2025 Yoga Bellaire had moved between five different locations, and at one point was hosting classes in local businesses such as BeeWell and Short’s Brewing to just keep classes on the schedule while we tried to find a space. Bellaire isn’t a big town by any means, and there isn’t much room to expand or build something new. Thankfully in 2025 we were invited to utilize the Inspire Health and Chiropractor Center and have been growing there since. It’s been a slow journey, but thankfully we have some very loyal students and are slowly finding opportunities to connect with new clients and residents.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Yoga Bellaire?
Yoga Bellaire is all about being of service to people. We are here to help people get back in their bodies and out of their minds. What makes us so special is the fact that we meet you right where you are within each class and offering. We offer lots of variations and opportunities for people to become curious around the way their body moves and responds to movement. I am most proud of the fact that we never stop learning from each other. I have learned how to be more accommodating for different bodies, how to embrace my own teaching style and how to build something that resonates with the people of Bellaire or people just visiting.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love to collaborate with people who have different wellness practices such as ayurveda, gua sha, essential oils, sound healing or local artists as well. These are typically things I weave into my Day-cations or pop up events such as our Yoga + Art Connection. To support Yoga Bellaire, all I ask is that you show up and check us out and then tell your friends if you enjoyed it!
