Hidden Gems: Meet Freddy Djogo of Refund Express

Today we’d like to introduce you to Freddy Djogo. 

Hi Freddy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My name is Freddy Djogo and I’m 32 years old. I was born and raised in Ivory Coast, West Africa. In summer 2010, I’ve moved to the United States and started going to college at the University of Toledo, Ohio. Fast forward, in 2016, I’ve already obtained my bachelor and master in accounting. 

The same year, I’ve created Refund Express, a tax preparation business. My siblings were my first clients; then, I’ve started helping my friends. By 2021, I’ve expanded my client base and Refund Express became a Limited Liability Company. 

In 2022, Refund Express LLC added Budget Consulting as a new service. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Indeed, it has not been a smooth road. Fear and self-doubt were my foes the first year I’ve opened the business. 

However, my family and close friends never doubted my skills since the beginning. They are an incredible support system. This circle helped me build up my confidence. This is the reason why I’ve no more fear and self-doubt now. I’m focusing on my purpose and enjoying the journey.

As mentioned before, Refund Express LLC is a tax firm specializing in tax return preparation and budget consulting. 

The Accounting field has long been viewed as a boring realm. My purpose is to help the community become more financially stable while having fun. This is the reason why I always bring some dance moves and music to my posts on social media. Furthermore, when I’m meeting my clients in person, I focus first on their state of mind and desires. My goal is to build trust and friendship; Friends can talk to each other freely with no filter. Once the line of communication is open, I can provide them quality service. 

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Playing Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, and Goldeneye 007 with my siblings. I miss these days!
