Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Bly.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We started in the summer of 2019 and only did interior detailing and later started going more in-depth with detailing and over the years we were able to gain more clients and more work and also had more detailing knowledge which helped us grow a substantial amount to now, we are detailing pretty much any vehicle you can think of. 6 figure Bentley’s to the daily driver and the grocery-getter vehicle. We offer interior and exterior details or 2 full-service details including our most popular being the Frosty Special. We pride ourselves on being not only affordable but also very customer service oriented.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge for us was when we first started. How do we find our clients and where do we find them? The auto detailing service is a somewhat small market and a lot of the people who get their vehicles detailed take a lot of pride in their vehicles so it was very difficult to gain their trust and eventually we did and now we are in the position to be a major detailing business in the Birmingham area. Another challenge of ours and a lot of small businesses was Covid. For us, we have to be in clients vehicles and it can be worrying for some people, we decided to make a special service explicitly for covid which was a disinfectant detail which helped get clients to us and it definitely gave the client a piece of mind when your second home is your vehicle.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I started Frosty’s Detailing at the age of 17 in my driveway and business was extremely slow. I only did one service which was interior detail. Throughout the years, I always wanted to see where this business that I really started all by myself and learned everything I know by myself could go and now we offer interior detail, exterior detail as well as 2 full service details and a full ceramic coating and 2 new services coming in April 2022 and business is unbelievable. I think what sets me aside from the other detailing companies around the area is that we treat every client like family and we strive to have the best customer service and that’s why we offer a free wash after 4 details and try our hardest to have our clients walk out to their second biggest investment in the morning and smile because it looks brand new when they look and we are doing that since we have done 200+ vehicles and we are just getting started!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next couple weeks, we will be a fully functional mobile detailing company and we are on track to being a fully certified detailer where you can have a certified auto detailer at your doorstep. I think this could be a huge game changer for us and allows us to appeal to more clients and also give the client a piece of mind knowing that you can trust us with your vehicle. And in the next couple years, we hope to open up a shop where we want to be the biggest detailing company not only in Birmingham but in Oakland county and we can’t thank our clients enough because if it wasn’t for them we wouldn’t be here!
