Today we’d like to introduce you to Diamon Doss.
Hi Diamon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First, I’m a single mother of 3 beautiful baby girls. I had my first child Cassidy at 16 at home, alone on my mother’s living room floor with no help. Just an operator over the phone telling me what to do until ambulance arrived. Scary experience, especially since I had her at 24 weeks at 1lb 6oz, but from that day forward, I knew I had to get my life together. I was somewhat a troubled teen, I stayed getting into fights, partying, and stealing my mom’s car, but no matter what, I made sure to stay in school leading up to college and kept my head in the books. I’ve always been smart; I just always use to be influenced with things going on in the streets. But once my peers started to always come to me for advice, help on schoolwork, or anything involving business, that made me realize I had the power to become successful, possibly successful enough to make sure my whole family will be taken care of. Moving forward, I told myself I had to save money so with that being said I made sure to keep and always work 2 jobs mainly between hospital and mall jobs. I would save one work check from one job, then use the lesser check from my retail job as spending money. Once I did that, I invested in my first business ever which is called Pure Diamond Lipgloss. I got a lot of support when I launched my lipgloss line that I hand-made from scratch and even got offered vendor contract deals from major places including L’Oréal Cosmetics. For a while, I enjoyed working and having a side hustle but one day, I told myself I don’t want to work for the next anymore, I want to be my own Boss. So since then, I’ve always thought of new business ventures and ways I could come up with money to help bring these visions to life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. The biggest obstacles I endured along my journey have been fear of failure and lack of financial resources. With maintaining a business investing is key but you have to prepare yourself to go through days where you could make $0 dollars when others days you can make up to $1000 a day. Some challenges I have faced while being a business owner is lack of time due to me being a full-time mother, planning budgets, and lack of support. Ways I have overcome these challenges is listening to my gut when it comes to people, being able to abandon what doesn’t work, and replacing old strategies with new ones.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My current and most successful business Angles with Clarity came about from a tragedy I experienced with my youngest child Clarity, who just turnt 2 July 30th. Due to her having a severe brain injury due to breathing problems unexpectedly, Clarity spent time healing in a local pediatric ICU from Nov. 20, 2020-March 27th, 2022. I went through a lot during her hospital stay and even had to train to be a nurse, so I can care for her & take her home. This led to me and her siblings (Cassidy & Cyncere) deciding to create a family business that would keep Clarity’s name alive as well as honor her for being a part of our family. Clarity has always been a happy baby so we wanted to create something that would create smiles and memories for others as well. What other way to do just that other than using our automatic 360 and mirror photo booths to help create priceless memories. My photo booths are fun, and it’s a great source of entertainment for every guest no matter how old or young. Everyone can let loose and get creative in the booths with all the props we offer, including our famous money gun. We stand out from most because we give guests the ability to customize the photos and video overlays to match the theme of their events that can be used as a party favor which you can also share on social media. Also, our photo booth gives attendees something to do when they feel bored or need a break from the dance floor. In addition, we let customers use prop money and money guns; we create custom photo frames and anything else you can think of to help turn your video or photo into a priceless memory when stepping onto our platform. Services can be booked online at www.angleswithclarity.com as we serve both public, private, and corporate events.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can support me by just sharing simple posts on social media or attending local events that my business is a part of. For example, I involve myself in many business expos and local pop-up shops that many can attend to come show their support. People can always reach out to me via phone, websites, or social media for collaborations or info on additional services and businesses I offer. This includes my trucking business, turo, lipgloss, and 1 on 1 training services I also offer.
