Hi Dakota, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Before I went to beauty school, I used hair styling services as a way to help people recognize their beauty. Hair transformations have always been highly valued in my life. There are many things in this world I do not enjoy spending my time doing, so I have always used my gifts as a way to bargain. All through middle school and high school, I woke up a 5 am to style my sister’s hair, and she would spend her evenings doing my homework and cleaning my room. I believe I got to where I am today because I love people, and I want more people to enjoy and express the way they feel through their Image. I am all about the final result and I will do whatever I need to do to get there.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has been a rocky road, but my friends tell me I make it look easy. That means a lot to me, considering all the emotions I go through every day. Most of my past struggles stemmed from running away from my problems instead of facing them head-on. I thought my life would be easier somewhere warmer and pretty. That’s not true. Life is hard no matter where you end up. The goal is to have better problems than yesterday. I have a lot of dreams, and I often feel that I should have done them yesterday. I wouldn’t change the way I am because I get things done, and that makes me proud that I have lived a full life already. Beauty industry struggles are improving every year. Customers used to no show, and there would be no reproductions for the client and wasted time of the stylist. Now there are websites that require deposits and card information. People often neglect they way they look because they listen to people who call them selfish. I believe all my customers are so powerful because they take control of their own lives and love themselves.
