Hi Austin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I first started the business it actually wasn’t called Go to Cleaning Services, it was called College Cleaners. I was just a college kid trying to make some extra money. I started the whole thing out of the hatchback of my Chevy Cruze, barely fitting a power washer, hoses, and buckets in my trunk.
At the time I wasn’t thinking about building a big company, I was just focused on doing a great job for people and getting the next job. We got in contact with a HOA in Rockford our first year and took on a project that we would never imagine or done before. We hand stained all 74 units decking. It took 2 summers to complete and a ton of hours. We learned more in those 2 years than I ever have.
Over time the work started to grow through word of mouth and reviews, and that’s when I realized it could become something bigger than just a side hustle.
Eventually the business evolved into Go to Cleaning Services, and now we serve a lot of homeowners across West Michigan. It’s pretty crazy looking back knowing it all started with a few tools in the back of my car.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We took on no debt the first 3 years of business. We put every dollar back into the business. This meant I was not taking money to pay myself from the business. Having to work on the weekends and nights a W-2 while working all day on the business was hard.
I sold the Chevy cruze and obviously that limited the ability of what we could do. We upgraded to a SUV and bought a trailer. Looking back, we should’ve just bought a truck instead of the SUV and trailer. That settup worked, just couldve been better with a truck. After a year with the SUV and trailer we sold both, and put 75% down on a truck and got it professionally wrapped.
No one taught you how to run a business growing up. Luckily, my father growing up ran his own operation and business, and I learned hard work from him.

Go to Cleaning Services was established in 2021.
We specialize in: Window cleaning, power washing/soft washing, gutter cleaning, and temporary holiday lighting.
We service residential, commercial, and post construction clients.
When someone is looking to hire a exterior cleaning company, at the bare minimum that company should do a good job. So we thought on how can we be different than the rest.
We create meaningful relationships with our community and clients. We do more than the bare minimum, going above and beyond for any type of client.
Doing the small extras that clients might not even notice, like cleaning house mirrors, helping put patio furniture out, or moving furniture around.
Over the last 2 years since we have been on google, we have acquired over 100, five star google reviews.
