Hidden Gems: Meet Atzin Flores of Moon Sacred Circle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Atzin Flores.

Hi Atzin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story begins in Mexico, where I developed an interest in personal growth and self-development from a very young age. Life led me to discover various holistic tools that are now an integral part of what I teach and offer in my ceremonies and workshops.

It all started with yoga when I was about 11 years old. My teacher, at the time, encouraged me to study about energy, chakras, and meditation. As time went on, several mentors came into my life and taught me healing practices such as: Reiki, Angelic Healing, sound healing, among others. Eventually, one of my teachers invited me to volunteer at children’s shelters, teaching yoga, meditation, and Reiki to children and teens dealing with addiction and abuse. I stayed for three years, and it filled my heart to see a tangible, positive difference in the children who participated in the program.

When I turned 26, my life took a major turn. I got married and moved to Ohio with my husband. That turned my life inside out and I had to reinvent myself from scratch, adapt to new traditions, learn a new language, and embrace a different way of looking at life.

Gradually, I found my rhythm again. I decided to get certified as a Yoga and Meditation teacher to keep sharing what I loved most. I began hosting small meditation circles with my closest friends. Without even realizing, those were my first steps into facilitating women’s circles. I remember inviting pregnant friends to meditate, connect with their babies, and channel positive energy for childbirth—only to learn later that this ritual is known as a Blessingway. Over time, I also reconnected with traditional healing practices from Mexico, such as sahumerios (smudging), limpias (cleansings), temazcal (sweat lodges), and sacred dance.

However, it wasn’t until I moved to Michigan about six years ago, combined with becoming a mother, that I felt a profound calling to create loving, supportive spaces for women. Shortly after arriving in Michigan, I became pregnant, which sparked a deep desire to reconnect with my roots. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I began diving deeper into holistic ceremonies—especially Blessingways, which originate from the Navajo tradition. I resonated deeply with this work and became certified as a Holistic Ceremony Facilitator, creating sacred spaces to honor life’s major milestones, from births and weddings to death and everything in between.

Around the same time, I met one of my most cherished mentors, who introduced me to Cacao medicine, often known as the medicine of the heart. Cacao helped me connect with myself on a much deeper, more loving level. It brought immense light to my life, while also guiding me through the deeper work of exploring my own shadows.

Once my oldest child became more independent, I began sharing Women’s Circles and holistic ceremonies with my local community, creating spaces for healing where people could express and release whatever no longer served them.

Last year, after the birth of my second child, I had the honor of visiting El cacaotal of Abuelo Efrén, a Mayan traditional lineage keeper. I went specifically to receive a blessing for my baby and permission to share Cacao medicine. Through this journey, I learned that some wisdom cannot simply be acquired through an online course—it must be lived, experienced firsthand, and walked with commitment along the “white path,” as Abuelo Efrén said. Since then, I strive to offer everything I do with deep respect and love, for the highest good of everyone who enters my circles.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I believe the greatest challenges I’ve faced come from being an immigrant entrepreneur and mother without a built-in support system. By that, I mean the only family I have here is my beloved husband and my children. Parenting completely on your own can be very complex—there is no grandma nearby to look after the kids in the afternoons so you can move your projects forward.

Another major obstacle has been paving a path in a space where there is little awareness of what a Holistic Ceremony actually is, or how vital Women’s Circles are for our mental and emotional health.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Moon Sacred Circle?
Moon Sacred Circle was created with the purpose of offering sacred spaces to celebrate human life’s most meaningful milestones through Holistic Ceremonies. We facilitate conscious, connected ways to honor occasions like birthdays, welcoming a new baby, weddings, or moving into a new home. Recently, I hosted a children’s circle to celebrate their transition into first grade, which is a major milestone.

Additionally, I teach meditation and mindfulness, perform sound healing sessions and facilitate sacred circles with Cacao for individuals seeking to embark on a deeper journey inward. One of the most sought after activity, which I facilitate year after year, is the Vision Board workshop; designed to empower people to manifest their dreams into reality.

What truly sets Moon Sacred Circle apart is the intentional blending of ancient wisdom, traditional Mexican ancestral practices, and a holistic mindset. We don’t just host events; we build compassionate spaces where people can heal, express themselves freely, and release what no longer serves them. I am most proud of guiding our community toward deeper self-connection and providing meaningful rites of passage that bring spirituality, reverence, and true belonging back into everyday modern life.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is the alignment between who you are as a human being, what you truly want and desire from your heart, the intentional actions you take to achieve it, and the positive impact you create in the world around you.
