Today we’d like to introduce you to Alese Copley.
Hi Alese, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started as therapist because I wanted to help people, I knew what it felt like to not understand your emotions, and to feel very alone. I knew I did not want others to feel this way; I wanted to re-instill hope in others. I would have never guessed that I would have ended up here when I was a child. I wanted to be a pilot, an engineer, or a fashion designer. The one thing I knew for sure, looking back now, I knew that I wanted to do something impactful, something meaningful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
College in itself was a struggle for me, I constantly felt like I was pushing while someone else was pulling. I felt like an outcast in my christian beliefs. No one wanted to talk about being firm in your faith as well as your political affiliation. Being me was a minority in my career field. I felt very alone, I wanted to give up so many times. I prayed that somehow all of this would make sense, and pay off.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Aura Counseling Pllc?
I started my business toward the end of 2025. I have not been doing it long, but boy have I learned a lot. I specialize in the therapeutic treatment of anxiety, through body based minfulness, holistic strategies, and sometimes even exposure therapy. What sets me apart is that I am real, very real. I wont try to wow you with my experiences (although I have a ton of those). I won’t try to impress you. I will simply show you, level with you, conversate with you, and ask for feedback.
Often times I have been where you are, and I am not better than you, I will simply attempt to gain understanding into how your brain comprehends things. I am good at what I do because I value quality over quantity. I will not take on someone I feel I cannot help, I will put your needs first in session, no mater what my beliefs about them are. YOU are what is important on my sofa, YOU matter. I also incporate humor a lot in my sessions because humor is a wonderful tool for evaluating a situation, and expressing yourself. The world needs more humor.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is when my grandmother would slick my hair back into two individual ponytails on either side of my head. I would patiently wait outside her door with a brush and two hair ties until she was ready to help me. It’s funny looking back because I clearly could have done that myself, but something about grandma doing it, always made it worth the wait. As soon as I had those two pony tails, the world felt lighter, I would frolic outside, and became part of my own fairy tale.
