A visionary leader and wellness advocate, Wendy Z. Bradley is the proud founder and owner of Zoë Life Spa and Salon, a sanctuary where relaxation, renewal, and well-being take center stage. A native of Lansing, Michigan, Zoë grew up on Main Street in the 1960s, where she developed a strong sense of community and resilience—values that have shaped her journey as an entrepreneur.

Before embarking on her journey as a spa owner, Wendy dedicated 28+ years to a successful career at The Board of Water and Light, where she held several key positions, including Boiler Operator, Water and Fuel Lab Technician, Fuel Quality Coordinator, and HR Administrator of Employment, Compensation, Performance Management, Training, and Health & Wellness. During her final three years at the Board, she pursued her dream of creating a space for holistic wellness by founding Zoë Life Spa and Salon, balancing both careers before retiring in 2011 to fully dedicate herself to the spa’s growth and success.

With a background in corporate health & wellness, human resources, and science, Wendy holds a degree in Science and an MBA in Business. Her passion for holistic well-being, combined with her global travels exploring diverse wellness practices, inspired her to curate a range of services designed to meet the unique needs of her clients. Under her leadership, Zoë Life Spa and Salon has been recognized as the “Best Spa in Lansing” for 15 consecutive years and was recently honored with the 2024-2025 Travel & Hospitality Award for “Best Spa in Michigan.” These accolades reflect her unwavering commitment to excellence and the dedication of her dynamic team.

Wendy attributes her success to hard work, family support, and a talented staff who share her vision. She draws inspiration from her mother, Gloria Murchison, a trailblazer who served as First female and African American Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors at Auto-Owners Insurance. Her mother’s leadership and perseverance instilled in her the values of determination, integrity, and excellence—principles that continue to guide her business. Additionally, Wendy acknowledges the vital role her husband, Todd Bradley, has played in developing a strong and dynamic team through his exceptional professional development skills, which have helped shape the thriving culture at Zoë Life Spa and Salon. Last, but not least, the success of Zoë Life Spa and Salon is a direct reflection of the remarkable dedication, talent, and heart of our incredible staff, whose commitment to excellence creates the serene and nurturing experience our clients cherish.

Beyond her professional success, Wendy is deeply devoted to her daughter, Tyler Bradley, whose accomplishments as a Creative Producer for Disney Live Entertainment bring her immense pride.

Her greatest fulfillment comes from empowering others—whether it’s through self-care experiences at her spa, philanthropic efforts that support women and children, or mentoring the next generation of wellness professionals. At the core of her mission is the belief that “when you feel better, you do better”, a philosophy that continues to shape the transformative experiences at Zoë Life Spa and Salon.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road by any means. In the early days, juggling a full-time job at BWL, running the spa, and pursuing my MBA all at once was a true testament that I was walking on God’s shoulders. The journey tested my faith, endurance, and commitment. Over the years, we’ve survived expansions, floods, a fire, and the challenges of navigating a business through the COVID-19 pandemic. Each obstacle strengthened our foundation and reminded me that purpose-driven work always finds a way forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zoe Life Spa and Salon and Wellness Center?
Zoë Life Spa and Salon was created to be a safe haven—a place where people can escape the chaos of everyday life and leave feeling rejuvenated, restored, and ready to face the world. We offer over 150 services designed to support the mind, body, and spirit. From massages, facials, and waxing to AI skin analysis, med spa treatments, BallancerPro lymphatic drainage compression system and LightStim red light therapy bed, hydrotherapy, and detoxifying steam and salt therapy, our offerings are both comprehensive and cutting-edge. We also provide hair and nail salon services, sound therapy, infrared sauna sessions, and a calming aromatherapy lounge. What truly sets us apart is that every service we offer was created in response to a real need or personal experience—mine or someone else’s. I’m especially proud that we use state-of-the-art and FDA-approved equipment, allowing us to deliver safe, effective results in a deeply nurturing environment. At Zoë, it’s not just about self-care—it’s about transformation.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is witnessing the transformation that happens from the moment someone walks through our doors to the moment they leave—more relaxed, more confident, and often more hopeful. There’s something deeply fulfilling about creating a space where people feel seen, cared for, and renewed. I also find great joy in helping others achieve their professional goals, whether it’s mentoring team members, supporting their growth, or celebrating their successes. Seeing people thrive—both inside and outside of the spa—is what fuels me every day.
