Hi Vanessa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to college for Architecture and after completing school, I realized that it was not really ment for me. I had some money left over from students loans and listening to a few collage friends i check out a massage therapy school. I did a 9 month program and everything excelled from there. I started working at a few different spas while doing mobile massage on the side. Once covid hit, more people really enjoyed having services come to them. I slowly started to cut my days and hours working for someone eles and fully went on my own with mobile massage.
In wanting to and being able to network more, I started doing massage competition in 2023. With competition i am able to keep my skills on point and sharp while being able to do travel the world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has not be a smooth road at all. Nothing you love and passionate about is ever easy. Working for someone is never easy, specially when you get more years in as well as stepping into management positions. Learning how to deal with people of different walks of life is probably the hardest. People always have their own ideas of what you should and need to be doing.
When you are your own boss, the financial struggle can become very stressful and real. If things go wrong, its all on you. There is no one to blame but me, myself and I. Once things stabilize, its all worth wild, specially knowing you creating a legacy.
