Today we’d like to introduce you to Tylisya Gober.

Hi Tylisya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today. 
As a young girl, I became a mom at the age of thirteen. Since then, I was determined to create financial stability for my two daughters and I. Therefore, I withdrew my funds from my 401k to start my online e-commerce store in 2017. 

The online store did so well, I decided to open a brick-and-mortar physical location in Oak Park, Michigan the end 2018. 

Thereafter, my daughter went to school for business administration and became my business partner. We’ve now built a bond within the community of Oak Park by offering free styling services for any occasion, sponsoring a fashion shows for the mayor candidate, and donated 20% of the proceeds to the campaign, kids’ trunk or treat for the community, donated free clothing and styling services to local artists. 

Barbie Behavior Boutique would like to give thanks to the city Oak Park for honoring us with the Best Boutique Award for 2023. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
During 2019, business was prosperous and off to a great start. Unfortunately, after reaching six figures in revenue. The pandemic forced us to shut down, and it’s been a struggle to scale our business back to its full capacity.

Our boutique specializes in selling high-quality couture clothing to women of all sizes. 

We are 1 of 5 boutiques located in Michigan that carries all sizes XS- 5XL. 

Barbie Behavior Boutique will be giving out hundreds of free coats at our brick-and-mortar story, to all women, December 15, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm. 

We want to give back to the community as our way of saying thanks for making us the Best Boutique of Oak Park 2023. 

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I’ve learned to plan ahead for the unexpected. The Covid-19 crisis has taught us how to pivot and make our business more sustainable to withstand challenges.
