Exploring Life & Business with Theresa Adams of Adams Apple Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Adams.

Hi Theresa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today. 
My Midwest upbringing granted me many sweet memories of Grandma’s cooking, pumpkin festivals, Thanksgiving gatherings, and one very vivid memory of apple butter simmering in a copper kettle on a family farm. I carried those memories South and crafted my own tradition of gifting apple butter while in college. Soon after, as a young bride, I realized that my new last name also gave that apple butter the clever name of ‘Adams Apple’ Butter. After decades of giving it to family and friends, it was time to bring this tradition to customers around the country, so I founded Adams Apple Company in 2014 with the Original Adams Apple Butter.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Far from smooth, but still fulfilling and rewarding. Finding a manufacturer to make my recipes, funding, website development, photography, marketing, partnerships, supply chain challenges, cost of ingredients, jars, and more are just some of the struggles. What outweighs the struggles, though, are the lasting relationships and being able to share my experiences with others along the way.

As you know, we’re big fans of Adams Apple Company. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Adams Apple Company is woman-owned and operated, founded by a Southerner with Midwest roots, and all of our products are Made in the USA. I realize that Adams Apple Company is doing more than just preserving apple butter. When customers say, “It tastes like memories,” I know that I’m preserving a tradition.

Since founding Adams Apple Company in 2014, I have created many original sweet and savory recipes, all of which find apples – be they peeled or pressed – as a core ingredient. Each of my classic flavors are represented by their own combination of colors in eye-catching vintage plaids. My attention to detail in branding will not only bring your pantry to life but will also make these products your go-to gift for foodies.

Pairing fruits such as cranberries and pumpkins (yes, pumpkin is a fruit!) with apples or apple juice and my unique blend of spices, the butters have a depth of flavor you won’t find anywhere else. Every product pays homage to my Midwest roots or to the memorable tastes of life in the South.

As with anything in life, practice makes perfect. My home kitchen is the origin of each recipe, where I use everyday ingredients to bring customers the memorable tastes Adams Apple Company is known for. From creation to the finished product, tradition is at the forefront of every Adams Apple product.
