Hi Stefania & Richard, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We officially opened our business in May of 2023 – we came up with the idea while on holiday in Puerto Rico! Upon witnessing a street vendor selling fresh sugarcane juice (made on the spot using a manual press!) – we fell in love with the taste, and after some research we learned about the unbelievable health benefits that sugarcane juice, in its raw unprocessed form, has to offer.
We have always been health-oriented individuals, and shortly made it our mission to bring this delicious, tropical treat here to Michigan. Therefore, all our drinks are made with a base of fresh cane juice, juiced in front of the customer’s eyes!
Sugarcane Galore is based in Plymouth, MI, however we are a mobile business operating mainly in the Metro Detroit area, Lansing and Ann Arbor. Some of the larger-scale events that you can find us at are: Ann Arbor Art Fair, Plymouth Art in the Park, Blake’s Lavender Festival and Detroit Jazz Fest; you can occasionally find us at Plymouth Farmers Market and Birmingham Farmers Market; Additionally, we are open for private-hire year round! Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a new business, we were not immediately accepted into larger-scale events during our first year and had to really build up our reputation. Owning a food-truck business can be quite fun and profitable, however, the amount of “hustle” that you need to put into it is unbelievable. There are days when you are on your feet for 16 hours plus, there’s others when the weather does not cooperate, hence your business will suffer no matter how good your product is. Learning the intricacies of successfully operating a mobile business takes time, dedication, ambition and LOTS of effort – however, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

As proponents of a toxic-free lifestyle, we’ve always been passionate about creating fun, healthy + delicious drinks without the unwanted side-effects of alcohol – hence our zero-proof offerings! Our mission is definitely to elevate the “sober drinking” experience and to offer the public satisfying craft NA cocktails where they don’t feel like “something is missing” – quite the opposite! We purchase the highest quality NA Spirits, some of them we import from Europe – and we also started experimenting with adaptogens, such as ashwagandha, and certain botanicals, such as wormwood to further elevate our offerings!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Find your niche. Do not give up and believe in your product more than anything and anybody else.
