Exploring Life & Business with Shay Alsaid of Beauty Inkstitute

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shay Alsaid.

Hi Shay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started in 2011 literally doing eyebrows in my garage, I was 18 and fresh out of beauty school. My friends and neighbors would come and I had no other studio space than my garage, and I did their makeup and brows from there. I then worked at a few different salons and job then finally opened Paradise City Salon with my mother after gaining a following on IG for my Henna work. I did Henna Body art, Brow waxing, and makeup for about a year and a half and then I discovered Microblading. After becoming a certified Microblading artist, I started drifting more towards brows strictly. Later, after focusing my career 6 days a week for 4 years on microblading and brows, I wanted to express more of my creativity and passion for drawing so I taught myself how to tattoo, and now I am also known for great small detailed tattoo. Right now, after a long journey of growing as an artist, I founded an online education website called www.beautyinkstitute.com where my team and I are training artists from all over the world on how to become experts are Nano Brows, Tiny Tattoos, and Microblading. I’m very passionate about helping other artists achieve career fulfillmet from creating art. Artists are always told to do something “realistic” for a living from a young age, my company stands for proving the statement wrong daily. Our students are following their dreams, being creative, and earn a living by being themselves and staying in their element, it’s more than possible, most of them are making more than 6 figures in permanent make-up and tattooing. My first 10 years were about struggling, growing, and learning, and I’m hoping for the next 10 years to be about growing with my artist community together and giving back by helping artists especially women make an amazing living doing what they love.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’m very fortunate that I was born in a healthy body, mind, and a good family. My family Immigrated to the United States in 2003 with only $100 in their pocket and a family of five at the time. We lived poor for the first few years of being here, but my mom never made us notice like we were missing anything. I wasn’t aware of brand names or better things, so I never desired more as a kid because my mom raised us to only look at what we have and take care of ourselves. It wasn’t a smooth road, but I always felt like I had the clarity to see what I have currently and how I can use my cards to get to where I need to be. In reality, the road wasn’t smooth, but in my perspective, life was always good to me because I was always capable of moving forward. The biggest struggle was having old women come in the salons I worked at as a young kid and criticize my career path and compare me to their daughters in medical school. So many older women were trying to “watch out for me” by telling me that I should be in some sort of expensive college program. I wouldn’t change a thing though; it feels good to know I’m debt-free earning close to 7 figures while most other “realistic smarter than me” Kids are in debt and probably not earning as much as a business owner. Pressure makes diamonds.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Beauty Inkstitute is an online Permanent Makeup education Company based in Michigan, we train artists how to do Nano Brow, Microblading, Tiny Tattoos, and How to run their own permanent makeup business. We provide them with community, support, tools, and education to succeed. Basically, it’s what I wish I had when I was learning, everyone in the industry wanted to charge me over 3,000 every time I wanted to learn something, so I made it a priority to make the Beauty Inkstitute affordable because young entrepreneurs should probably spend their cash on tools and equipment rather than get ripped off at a classic 2-day crash course scam. We offer long classes with homework submissions real life and online to help every student achieve their financial business goals at an affordable price.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest mentor and inspiration in my whole life is my father, he’s an amazing businessman. He managed to turn $100 into a luxurious life in just 15 years. He never complains, always laughs, and enjoys every part life. My mom inspires me as well with her ability to save and use caution. Watching them as a kid was a privilege and a guide for me. Other mentors in my life are OSHO, I grew up reading his books and watching his videos. I am an avid reader; I learn a lot through books and documentaries and just paying attention to people I want to be like.
