Exploring Life & Business with Ray’Chelle Norfolk of Bombchelle Lashes L.L.C

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ray’Chelle Norfolk.

Ray’Chelle Norfolk

Hi Ray’Chelle , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ray’Chelle, though many people know me as Chelly. My passion for beauty started at a very young age. I grew up watching my mom apply her makeup and even had days when my dad would do my hair before school, which made those moments really special. While makeup was never my main focus, I naturally gravitated toward hair and lashes.

In high school, I enrolled in cosmetology courses during my junior and senior years, but after graduation, I chose to pursue a degree in Social Work and Mental Health. Even then, I continued doing hair on the side because that passion never left me. Before completing my degree, I realized that the beauty industry was truly where I wanted to build my career. I loved doing hair, but I also knew I was called to do something more. Around that time, lash extensions were becoming popular, and in 2017 I decided to get certified. That experience confirmed my direction-Bombchelle Lashes L.L.C was born.

To legally offer lash extensions, I needed to be licensed, so I put myself through Esthetician School and earned my license in 2021. Since then, I’ve been committed to growing and expanding my business. Today, Bombchelle Lashes offers not only lash services, but also brows, body waxing, and more. My journey has been driven by passion, determination, and a genuine love for helping people feel confident and beautiful.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey has definitely not been a smooth one, and in many ways, I believe it never truly is—life will always present challenges meant to test your resilience. I didn’t grow up with a financially privileged background; my family was very much middle class. Because of that, I learned early on the importance of hard work and self-sufficiency.

In my early twenties, I was working full time to put myself through college—also full time—while simultaneously running my business. I had moments where I felt unstoppable, but also moments of exhaustion, overwhelm, and doubt. There were times when I questioned whether I was really cut out to be a business owner. I didn’t have mentors or people around me who already understood the industry, so I had to learn a lot on my own. I made mistakes with finances, vendors, building clientele, and marketing. On top of that, I was handling everything myself: management, graphic design, social media, administrative tasks—everything.

Despite the challenges, each mistake became a lesson. I’ve grown significantly in both knowledge and confidence, and I continue to push myself toward greater stability, growth, and success. The road hasn’t been easy, but it has shaped me into a stronger, more determined entrepreneur.

As you know, we’re big fans of Bombchelle Lashes L.L.C. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business is called Bombchelle Lashes, and we specialize in lash extensions, brow services, and body waxing. I’ll also be reintroducing facials as part of our service menu soon. What truly sets my business apart is the passion and purpose behind it. For me, beauty services are not just about lashes or brows—they’re about helping people feel confident, empowered, and restored from the inside out.

Many clients seek these services for more than aesthetic reasons. Some may be dealing with depression, insecurities, or personal challenges, and enhancing their outward appearance can genuinely help uplift their internal well-being. That deeper connection to the work is what drives me not only as a service provider, but also as an instructor. My goal is to empower, inspire, and pour intention into every client and every student I teach.

Bombchelle’s mission/Values are:

Empower and inspire everyone we encounter. Pour passion in everything we do. Our pursuit of excellence is driven by the support of and collaboration with our clients. Never quit. The outcome is up to each and every one of us and we want it that way. Practice honesty and integrity in everything. Demonstrate courage and honor at all times. Liberate your individuality. Embrace your creativity. Celebrate your success. Create the standards of excellence for products, services, education and training. Embrace innovation and quality control to stand above the rest…..because we care.

These values aren’t just words—they guide how I run my business, how I serve my clients, and how I continue to grow within the beauty industry.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is to give yourself grace while staying committed to the process. Entrepreneurship is rewarding, but it’s also full of challenges, and you won’t have all the answers on day one and that’s okay. Learn as you go, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to invest in your education, whether that’s training, mentorship, or resources that help you elevate your craft.

One thing I wish I knew earlier is that you don’t have to do everything alone. When I started, I was managing every single aspect of my business services, marketing, finances, customer service without guidance. That led to stress, mistakes, and burnout. If you can, seek out mentors or connect with other professionals in your industry. Community and support can save you a lot of time, money, and frustration.

I’d also tell beginners not to compare their journey to others. Social media can make it seem like everyone is growing faster or doing better, but you never see the behind the scenes effort, sacrifices, or failures. Focus on your own growth, your own pace, and your own mission

Finally, stay true to your values and show up for your clients with integrity and passion. Skill can be taught, but consistency, professionalism, and genuine care are what truly build a sustainable business. Every mistake you make will teach you something valuable, and every step forward no matter how small is progress.
