Today we’d like to introduce you to RaKala Cosley – Wallace.
RaKala, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had one foot in creativity and the other in community. I studied social science at Michigan State University with a concentration in political science and a minor in peace and justice, which gave me a foundation in understanding how systems impact people and neighborhoods. During my time working with the Wayne County Commission and Detroit City Council, I discovered digital marketing as a way to circulate vital information to constituents.
At the same time, I embraced visual and artistic storytelling as a model and creative director, which gave me firsthand experience in what it takes to bring an idea to life visually. Over time, I realized that as beautiful as the creative work was, it often wasn’t paired with the systems or digital infrastructure needed to truly scale and sustain it.
That realization inspired me to launch 94 Digital, a boutique agency, where marketing, storytelling, and community building come together. My work sits at the intersection of digital strategy and creative production, and I’ve been fortunate to partner with brands, magazines, and creatives to amplify their work in ways that don’t just look good but also create real impact and visibility.
Alongside that, I recently launched Open Create, a UGC-centered initiative designed to give creators the community, structure, and wellness opportunities they need to thrive. I like to think of my career as one long experiment in merging art with strategy, beauty with infrastructure, and individuality with community.
Where I am today is the result of following that thread, listening to what creators and communities need, and building frameworks that allow them to grow, sustain themselves, and ultimately tell their stories on bigger stages.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. One of the hardest moments in my adulthood was losing a job because of my pregnancy. It was devastating. While navigating all the emotions that come with becoming a mother, I was also faced with the reality of being pushed out of the workforce for something I deeply wanted to celebrate. That experience left me with feelings of insecurity and even shame, and for a while, I questioned my worth and my future.
Motherhood, however, also gave me a new kind of strength. As a stay-at-home mom during the height of the pandemic, I found resilience. I used that time to earn my digital marketing certification from Google, and I learned how to run a household with my husband. Together we balanced care, structure, and commitment. In many ways, that season taught me more about leadership, discipline, and creativity than any job ever could.
I carry those lessons with me into my work today. The way I approach building a business is deeply connected to what I learned at home: patience, resourcefulness, and building something that lasts. Looking ahead, my goal is to create opportunities for mothers in the entrepreneurial and creative ecosystem I work and live in. I know firsthand the talent, tenacity, and vision that mothers bring. Supporting them isn’t just about doing good business, it’s about being a good neighbor, strengthening families, and ultimately, building stronger communities.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy? I would say above anything feeling connected to my family, my friends, and my work. Since the pandemic, I feel like true connectivity is a commodity. I’d like to think that I am striving towards a life where I can confidently be connected to everything I choose to dedicate myself to. Coming into a new era where I’m learning to balance my opportunities as both a founder, and a creative, wife and mother, I want to be dedicated to wellness and self care practices as a way to consistently create joy in my life so that I can always pour from a full up.
