Exploring Life & Business with Rachael Hendzell of Super Sweet Speech

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Hendzell.

Hi Rachael, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hey there! I’m Rachael Hendzell, an American Speech and Hearing Association-certified Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist. I currently work in a public elementary school in Southeast Michigan and own my own private practice, Super Sweet Speech LLC. I received my Bachelor of Arts from Central Michigan University and my Master of Arts from The University of Toledo. My clinical experience has focused on pediatric speech and language therapy. I also sit on the board of a local nonprofit, Communication is Key AAC, that has a strong focus on children with complex communication needs. In addition, I have a speech podcast, Let’s Taco Bout Speech, with cohost Claire Barbao, M.A. CCC-SLP. My main focus is early intervention, language, and literacy. I’ve worked with children aged 2-17 in schools and clinics. I’ve has quickly realized the importance of early intervention in our field and just how important authentic and genuine interactions with our children are!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey to becoming a Speech Language Pathologist was filled with ups and downs. Graduate school was and remains to be incredibly competitive to get into a Speech Language Pathology program! This was definitely a huge obstacle to tackle.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Super Sweet Speech LLC is a Pediatric Speech Therapy private practice that services children and their families in Southeast Michigan. We are a play-based practice that provides services in home with a strong focus on literacy. We also run Play and Say Language and Social Skills groups that focus on language and social skills. These are hosted at a variety of local venues throughout Southeast Michigan, including Stemville in Northville and the PARC in Plymouth.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
