Today we’d like to introduce you to Mycha Garrett.
Hi Mycha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was first featured by Voyage Michigan, By His Spirit Styling Company was known primarily as a personal styling business. Today, I see it as the beginning of something much bigger.
What started as helping women get dressed has evolved into helping women rebuild.
Over the last few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with women from different walks of life, and I began noticing a pattern. Very few women were struggling because they lacked clothes. Most were struggling because life had changed them. Motherhood. Marriage. Ministry. Career transitions. Loss. Weight changes. Seasons of putting everyone else first. They weren’t simply asking, “Can you style this outfit?” They were really asking, “How do I find myself again?”
As I served those women, God began expanding my own vision.
He showed me that style was never meant to be the destination—it was the invitation. An invitation for women to rediscover their confidence, embrace the woman He created them to be, and stop hiding behind insecurity, comparison, or the expectations of everyone else.
That realization has transformed the direction of By His Spirit Styling Company.
Today, we’re building more than a styling business. We’re building a faith-based brand and community that equips women to rebuild their confidence, rediscover their identity, and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. Personal styling is still an important part of that mission, but it’s now one of many ways we serve women through education, community experiences, and confidence-building initiatives.
Personally, I’ve grown just as much as the business has. Becoming a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur has stretched me in ways I never anticipated. Those experiences have deepened my understanding of the women I serve because I’ve lived through seasons of rebuilding myself.
Looking back, I can see that every chapter of my life—from my years in retail leadership to my love for thrifted fashion to my own journey of finding confidence in Christ—was preparing me for this season.
I’m no longer simply building a styling company.
I’m building a legacy that reminds women they don’t have to lose themselves while serving everyone else. My prayer is that every woman who encounters By His Spirit Styling Company leaves with more than a great outfit. I want her to leave believing she is seen, valuable, confident, and fully equipped to walk in everything God has called her to be.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely NOT .
This season has taught me that entrepreneurship isn’t just about building a business—it’s about allowing God to build you.
One of my greatest challenges has been learning to embrace growth that doesn’t always look the way I expected. There have been seasons where I had to slow down, pivot, postpone launches, and completely rethink the direction of my business. As someone who likes having a plan, that hasn’t always been easy. But I’ve learned that obedience and timing are more valuable than simply moving fast.
Motherhood has also stretched me in ways I never anticipated. Balancing my calling as a wife, mother, ministry leader, and business owner has required me to redefine what success looks like. I’ve had to let go of the pressure to constantly produce and instead focus on building something sustainable—something that honors both my family and the vision God has entrusted to me.
Another challenge has been giving myself permission to evolve. When I first started By His Spirit Styling Company, I thought I was simply building a styling business. Over time, I realized God was expanding the vision into something much deeper. That meant releasing old expectations, refining my messaging, and trusting that the right people would grow with me as the mission became clearer.
Perhaps the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that not every delay is a setback. Some delays are preparation. Looking back, I can see that God was using every pause to refine my leadership, strengthen my faith, and prepare me to steward the next season well.
Today, I don’t measure success only by revenue, followers, or opportunities. I measure it by obedience. If I’m faithfully building what God has called me to build, I trust that everything else will come in His perfect timing.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
By His Spirit Styling Co. is a faith-based personal style and confidence brand dedicated to helping women rebuild their confidence, rediscover their identity, and express themselves authentically through style.
While we offer personal styling services, I’ve never wanted women to leave with just a great outfit. My goal is for them to leave with a renewed sense of confidence and a deeper understanding of who God created them to be. I believe style is one of the many ways we communicate who we are, and when our identity is rooted in Christ, getting dressed becomes an act of confidence rather than comparison.
Today, we serve women through personal styling experiences, closet edits, virtual styling, educational workshops, and community-driven initiatives like *Style My Followers*. Every offering is designed to meet women where they are, whether they’re navigating motherhood, career changes, ministry, or another season of rebuilding.
What truly sets By His Spirit Styling Co. apart is that we don’t believe confidence begins in your closet—it begins with your identity. Clothing is simply the tool we use to help women reconnect with the version of themselves they may have lost along the way. Our approach combines practical style education with faith, encouragement, and personal transformation, creating an experience that goes far beyond fashion.
The brand I’m most proud of isn’t one that’s focused on trends or appearances. It’s one that gives women permission to show up as themselves without feeling pressured to fit someone else’s definition of beauty. If a woman leaves our community believing she’s more confident, more equipped, and more secure in who God created her to be, then we’ve accomplished our mission.
As we continue to grow, my vision is for By His Spirit Styling Co. to become the go-to faith-based confidence and personal style brand for women navigating seasons of transition. Whether someone discovers us through a styling session, a workshop, a community initiative, or future educational resources, I want every interaction to remind her that rebuilding isn’t a sign of failure—it’s often where God does His greatest work.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
The Bible is, without question, the most important resource in my life. It’s the foundation for how I lead, make decisions, and steward both my family and my business. Before I look for strategies, I seek God’s wisdom through prayer and His Word.
One book that’s had a significant impact on me in this season is *Spiritual Leadership* by J. Oswald Sanders. One of the biggest lessons I’ve taken away is the importance of delegation. As someone who naturally wanted to do everything myself, learning that effective leadership requires trusting and empowering others has been transformational. It’s one of the reasons we’ve begun expanding our team, including bringing on an Executive Assistant, so I can focus more intentionally on leading the vision God has given me rather than trying to carry every responsibility alone.
I also enjoy listening to **The Covenant Wealth Podcast** for its biblical perspective on stewardship, business, and legacy, as well as **The TED Business Podcast**, which challenges me to think creatively about leadership and entrepreneurship. And as a wife and mother, **Risen Motherhood** has been an encouraging reminder that my calling at home and my calling in business don’t compete—they can complement one another when they’re both surrendered to God.
I’ve learned that the best resources don’t just help you grow your business—they help you become the kind of leader who can faithfully steward the vision God has entrusted to you.
