Today we’d like to introduce you to Meagan Germaine.
Hi Meagan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in a small northern Michigan town and have always been involved in sports or was doing something active outside. After graduating high school, I attended Michigan State University and graduated with a bachelor of art in Interior Design. Most people don’t think of health and wellness when they visualize interior design, but the two are very much related. The space you’re in can have a direct impact on your mood, hunger, energy, and much more. I knew I wanted to create spaces that people would thrive in. While working as a professional interior designer, I competed in my first fitness competition. It changed my life. The reward of working so hard for something and seeing what my body was capable of was profound for me. I knew I could do more. I knew I could help people feel the same way I did. I then got my personal trainer certification and am working towards a nutrition and elite trainer certification. I felt I needed a niche and for me that was women. So, I started Megs Body Shop, where I offer online coaching to all women. I am passionate about empowering women to be mentally tough, learn that food is life, and to be their own body goals. In the future, I plan to incorporate my interior design background by offering home gym design services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth. There have been plenty of ups and downs. For the longest time, I struggled with how I would incorporate my degree I loved and worked so hard for into another passion of mine (personal training/ health and fitness). I juggled with giving up one of the two because doing both separately just didn’t seem to work for me. This struggle delayed my progress and I ended up starting random businesses that never really went anywhere. Another struggle was obviously 2020 and the pandemic. I was working full time and studying after work to obtain my certifications and work on my website and business model until I lost my job because of covid. With no income, all my studying and business was somewhat put on hold while I job searched full time and dealt with the stress of losing my job.
As you know, we’re big fans of Megs Body Shop. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Megs Body Shop is an online, women’s health and fitness coaching business. I specialize in coaching women and empowering them by learning how to be mentally tough, learn about the food they are eating, and accepting and loving themselves and the body they are in right now.
What sets me apart from other online coaches is that I’m not trying to just make money off of women. I’m here to inform them about this industry and what actually works in helping them get to their goals. You WILL NOT find me offering 6- or 8-week plans (this is the quickest money-making scheme for most online coaches you see and they don’t work long term). I don’t try to sell you expensive supplements (“get 10% off if you use code”…eye roll) – supplements are a waste of money and very expensive – you don’t need them. Other things you will not see me promoting that most all others do (to make money): waist trainers, fat burners, fad diets, and exercise programs to get you “toned” (not a real thing). As you can see, I’m a no-frills, non-hand holding, straight-to-the-point truth preacher when it comes to women’s health and fitness. I have seen so many women fall for too many marketing schemes and “get rich quick” programs and all they are doing is spending so much money and ruining their relationship with health and fitness. I’m here to change that and speak the truth to so many women that have been and are still being told so many lies by the industry.
I offer one on one personal online coaching for fitness and nutrition (at the moment – more to come). I use my social media avidly to share information and interact with my followers. I have a blog on my website geared towards popular health and fitness topics and I am also a published author for Austin Fit Magazine (my 4th article will be published in November).
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest supporter is my boyfriend. He is the smartest, most caring, and helpful person I know. He would and he has done anything and everything to help me, especially when I’ve needed it most. I could never thank him enough for his support.
My friends and family are my cheerleaders, especially my best friend. She is always there hyping me up and congratulating me on my accomplishments.
I would also like to thank the director and editors at Austin Fit Magazine for giving me a chance to write for you and giving me a voice in our community.
