Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucette Marina.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’d say I’ve had quite an unusual career. Lol! With a degree in Sales and Marketing Management in my home country and a passion for beauty, I decided to retrain in this field. So, in 2018 I went to Casablanca in Morocco to train with one of the best in the city by the name of Camille Fourgous, whom I salute, by the way, if she gets a chance to read me.
I had planned to return to my country open a salon, and then practice my art. But there was a happy event (the arrival of my 1st Son) that filled me with happiness and priceless joy. Following this, I dropped my plans to open a salon and devoted myself entirely to my family.
In spite of everything, I continued to practice to keep my hand in and to take courses, among other things, to train myself.
A few years later, I came to Canada and continued to take courses in person at some of the best salons and sometimes by videoconference… just to get a solid base, and after all these certifications, I decided to open my own salon.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are a lot of difficulties in this field, which I’d say is saturated. The first difficulty is to get started in spite of everything. Then there’s the English language, which is not my mother tongue and which I had to learn and am still learning… Lol! I was wondering how I’m gonna approach people to tell them about what I do, how to explain my work, how to be able to answer their questions, and then satisfy them. And even when I shared my flyers, there were some people who just refused to take them.
Then I couldn’t find any models to start with because I didn’t have any friends or family to work with. (but after I get some people)
Finally, there are also expenses that you cannot reimburse for lack of customers
We’ve been impressed with Lulu Beauty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Beauty Artist specializing in permanent makeup. I will say that if I am known, it is thanks to my work because I offer a different service from what we usually see in the city (the Lipblush) and also the quality of my work, the products that I uses, and follow-up after their service. The simple fact of seeing my clients satisfied after their treatment gives me a certain inexplicable joy. The different services I offer are Lipblush, Eyebrows, Eyeliner, and eyelashes extensions which allow you to no longer have to worry about makeup in the morning before going out but also waterproof and good in every climate. Laugh… I use good quality products suitable for different skin types and which respect hygiene standards in this area.
Finally, I would say that I continue to train with my predecessors and the best in this PMU World to always offer quality services to my clients. Money is good, but the most important thing for me is the person above all.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I have God with me
