Hi Jo’Zanique, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Jo’Zanique Humphrey! I’m a recent college graduate from Hampton University where I majored in Entrepreneurship! I started Jo’Zanique’s Hair Empire in April of 2019 during my junior year of high school with efforts to provide teenage girls and women with affordable but quality hair extensions. Soon after selling hair extensions I taught myself how to install them on myself and soon after girls wanted me to do their hair. This led to me becoming a hairstylist at 17 years old all while still providing wigs, bundles, eyelashes etc through my website. I began hosted entrepreneurial events with efforts to give other entrepreneurs a chance to showcase their business! Once I got to college I participated in pop-up shops on campus and I collaborated with some of the organizations we had by offering styles for fashion shows and pageants! I also had a small era of teaching women how to install wigs! Another thing I’m proud of is I hosted a shampoo drive for single mothers at The Gloww Center in Hampton Virginia, I was able to get my campus involved with making donations and my clients, and bought some products of my own! This has all been apart of my journey!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my biggest obstacles would’ve been when it came to me going back and forth from home to school and trying to maintain a good clientele in both Michigan and Virginia.

We’ve been impressed with Jo’Zanique’s Hair Empire, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Jo’Zanique’s Hair Empire is a hair extensions company. We provide high quality Cambodian Hair Extensions. I specialize in wig installs, Quickweave, sew-ins, and more. I’m most known for my wig installs, that was one of the first styles I started off offering at 17 years old! I want readers to know that Jo’Zanique’s Hair Empire prides themself on good customer service, my priority is making sure my clients look and feel beautiful!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
A lot of people I looked up to were people I saw online. One of my favorites being Jayda Cheaves or “Jayda Wayda”, all her of fans remember when she use to sell hair lol. A true girl boss since she was young and that’s what I wanted to be like.
