Hi Joshua, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and looking back, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Even as a kid, I was finding ways to make money—my first hustle was detailing cars at just 11 years old. That drive led me to a barbershop, where I learned how to cut hair. That was my introduction to business—understanding not just the craft but the value of service, relationships, and independence.

My journey wasn’t a straight path. I dropped out of high school in the 11th grade but refused to let that define my future. I enrolled in the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy, where I earned my GED and college credits. At 17, I joined the Army, which took me overseas to Germany and ultimately into three deployments in Iraq. Even while serving, I kept my entrepreneurial mindset alive—barbering and eCommerce became my side hustles.

Education remained important to me, and in 2016, I earned my BS in Information Technology/Mobile Development from the University of Phoenix. But the turning point in my journey came in 2021 when I founded Bearded Nation LLC, followed by Valor Visionary Solutions in 2023 after being laid off. That moment pushed me to go all in on my businesses—something I had been building on the side for years.

Now, my mission is bigger than just business. It’s about legacy, empowerment, and creating opportunities for others. My story is proof that no matter where you start, resilience and vision can take you anywhere.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Life has tested me in ways I never could have imagined. I grew up without a father, dropped out of high school, spent time in prison, went through a divorce, and was laid off from a job I had invested so much in. At times, it felt like I had lost everything.

But what I never lost was my faith—in God, in myself, and in the vision I had for my life. No matter how many times I got knocked down, I refused to let my circumstances define me. Every challenge became a lesson, every setback became fuel.

I believe struggle shapes character. It forces you to dig deep, to push forward when everything around you says quit. And that’s exactly what I did. My faith in God has always been my anchor, and through every trial, I’ve learned that as long as I keep moving forward, nothing can take away the purpose He has for me.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Finding Joy in the Hustle

One of my favorite childhood memories takes me back to my early days as a young entrepreneur. I was about 11 years old, out in the neighborhood, detailing cars to make my own money. There was something about the hustle—the satisfaction of seeing a car go from dusty to spotless, the feeling of independence, and the pride of earning my own money.

I remember the first time a customer handed me a $20 bill for my work. At that age, it felt like a fortune! But more than the money, it was the realization that I could create opportunities for myself. That moment planted a seed—the understanding that I didn’t have to wait for someone to give me a job or a handout. If I was willing to put in the work, I could build something of my own.

That lesson has stayed with me ever since. It shaped my mindset, my work ethic, and my belief in creating my own path—no matter the obstacles. Looking back, that simple childhood hustle was the foundation for everything I do today.
