Exploring Life & Business with Jayden Lipp of Oakrise Bookkeeping, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Lipp.

Hi Jayden, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started Oakrise Bookkeeping out of a desire to help small business owners feel more in control of their finances. I’ve always been drawn to numbers and organization, and over time I realized how many business owners feel overwhelmed or unsure when it comes to their books. While studying accounting and working part time, I had the opportunity to begin handling bookkeeping for my family’s small business. That hands on experience showed me how valuable it is to have clean, reliable financials not just for taxes, but for making better day to day decisions. As I continued building my skills and earning certifications, I decided to start Oakrise Bookkeeping to serve other small businesses in a similar way. Today, I focus on helping business owners stay organized, understand their numbers, and remove the stress and uncertainty that often comes with bookkeeping.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like most things worth building, there’s been a learning curve along the way. One of the biggest challenges early on was gaining confidence in my work while still building real world experience. Even with education and certifications, there’s a difference between learning concepts and applying them to real businesses with real situations. Another challenge has been building the business itself, learning how to connect with the right people and clearly communicate the value of what I do. That process has pushed me to improve not just my technical skills, but also how I present and structure my services. Overall, those challenges have been a good thing. They’ve helped me become more detail oriented, improve my processes, and communicate more clearly with clients. I’m still growing, but each step has made me more confident in the value I provide.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Oakrise Bookkeeping is a Michigan based bookkeeping business focused on helping small business owners keep their financials organized, accurate, and stress free. I work with a variety of small businesses, providing monthly bookkeeping, cleanups, and ongoing support through QuickBooks Online.
What I aim to be known for is consistency and clarity. A lot of business owners don’t necessarily need something overly complex, they just need their books done correctly, on time, and in a way that actually makes sense to them. That’s where I focus: clean records, clear reporting, and reliable communication.
What sets me apart is a more personal, hands on approach. I’m not trying to be a large firm or offer everything under the sun. Instead, I focus specifically on bookkeeping and take the time to understand each client’s situation so I can keep things simple and organized for them.
I’m also very detail oriented and process driven, which helps ensure that nothing gets overlooked. Over time, I’ve built systems that allow me to stay consistent month after month, which gives clients confidence that their numbers are accurate and up to date.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building something that reflects trust, simplicity, and reliability. My goal is for clients to feel like their bookkeeping is no longer something they have to worry about. When the numbers are handled properly, it frees them up to focus on running and growing their business.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is living a simple, intentional life and staying grounded in what matters most to me. My faith in Christ plays a big role in that it gives me a sense of peace, direction, and purpose that carries into every area of my life. I also really value time with family and close relationships. Having people around me who I trust and can grow with is something I don’t take for granted, and it brings a lot of fulfillment outside of work. Spending time outdoors is another big one for me. Whether it’s fishing, walking, or just being in nature, it helps me slow down, think clearly, and stay balanced.
On top of that, I find a lot of satisfaction in staying disciplined and consistent, whether that’s in my work, my routines, or personal growth. Seeing steady progress over time is something that motivates me and keeps me grounded.
