Today we’d like to introduce you to Hana Abboud.
Hi Hana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Hana Abboud, I am a first-generation American born to Lebanese immigrants. I am a graduate of Central Michigan University; I went on to be a branch manager of PNC Bank before I founded L’amour Bridal in May of 2015. L’amour Bridal was founded to assist brides who, like myself, had not had good experiences shopping at other stores. I also founded it to help brides who are modest and needed the option to create a custom modest gown. As time had gone on and Covid affected us, the business changed significantly.
We have gone from a boutique that carried well-known designers to a boutique that carries our own private label. The L’amour Bridal Collection is one that I design and manufacture and we work with a few couture designers from New York. We have pivoted to give every single bride the opportunity to make her vision come to life. Our gowns start at $2,500 and are fully customizable, even at that price point. It has been my pride and joy since we pivoted in June of 2020 to help hundreds of brides get married in custom couture gowns that do not break the bank.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Thankfully our path has been pretty smooth transitioning from working with established brands to working with our own manufacturers. The only struggle we have encountered is having to establish that we manufacture a majority of our collection.
We’ve been impressed with L’amour Bridal, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
L’amour Bridal is a mid-range bridal boutique specializing in custom bridal gowns. We are able to make gowns appropriate for brides who are fully modest to brides who are looking for a customized neckline, longer train, etc… We are known for our customer service, our competitive pricing for the services we offer, and that we are a no-pressure boutique. We charge every bride $50 to book a private appointment and we offer our brides a knowledgeable expert throughout the entire experience.
What sets us apart is our private collection, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. We can create a custom veil to match any of our gowns designed by Hana. We are most proud of our reputation and the experience we have offered brides over the last 6 years.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best advice I can offer is to not be afraid to take a risk with your business, if it doesn’t pan out learn from it and go with your next pivot. Make sure you take every opportunity to learn and network as much as possible. Things in business never go according to plan, always be ready to change what you’re doing and what direction you are taking your business in.
