Exploring Life & Business with Full Send Ramen of Full Send Ramen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Full Send Ramen.

Hi Full Send, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The past two years have been an amazing showing of how wild life can be. It is amazing it has already been that long since we wrote our last piece for Hidden Gems. God has never been more obviously pronounced in our lives in providing and supplying every need. We started doing pop-ups as a pipe dream, were blessed with the opportunity to be the first monthly kitchen takeover when Happy’s left The Little Fleet, and everything got crazy after that. We were crushed all month and God provided us a food trailer to purchase on our shoe string budget that we have parked at The Coin Slot in the heart of downtown Traverse City ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In rereading our article two years ago, I was amused to hear myself say “the more powerful an idea, the more obstacles come from the pursuit of it”. It’s a good quote, and ooh brother I had no idea how right I was. I could count on my hand how many “smooth” weeks we have had since being open. The back to back all nighters in the start up phase, the multi-100hr work weeks in the heat oof busy season in the summer, staff struggles, and always trying to somehow somewhere deliver a local farm focused bowl of ramen that evolves and improves. I wouldn’t exchange the trials for anything else. Christians have a quote from James: “The testing of your faith develops perseverance”. I would say that has proven true in our personal and professional lives!

We’ve been impressed with Full Send Ramen, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are Traverse City’s only ramen-devoted establishment, and an incredibly unique one at that making 95% of our stuff from scratch, 90% local farm components including all bones for broth, and 100% oof prep being done inside the tiny space of a food trailer. No commissary kitchen here! We also do Hawai’i style noodle and rice dishes pairing with the traditional Japanese ramen menu.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the seasons. And I struggle with the seasons. Ha, no but really, I love TC and it’s beauty. As someone who has visited or lived in most #1 places of beauty on our earth, trust me when I say it is special, unique and beautiful. My main dislike is a lame one, just that after traveling to (I think) just about every state, it truly has some of the most deplorable roads ever. The roads are SO BAD! It looks like the scene from cars after lightning mcqueen rushes through doing a terrible job fixing the towns pavement…
