Exploring Life & Business with Emily Sadilek of In Full Bloom MI

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Sadilek.

Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When people ask me “Why flower farming? What makes this your passion?” I reflect to my childhood. From the time I could remember, I was always out with my grandparents and dad digging in the dirt, picking flowers in the garden, or arranging floral. Flower farming led me to expand my business into designing full-service floral, year-round.

After getting my boots muddy with a full year of flower farming, I opened my business up to wedding and event coordination and planning. With nine years of event planning and coordination experience including vendor management, timeline creation, design work, staff management, and all the other tasks it takes to put together an event, it felt right to offer this service. We currently travel state-wide in Michigan.

Without my boyfriend, parents, and friends I would not be able to operate my business. I take great pride in the dedication it takes to cultivate and grow flowers from the ground up, and I love offering them to my clients for weekly subscriptions, events, weddings, and wholesale needs. In turn, I am there with my clients in any way they need to make sure their big day is what they dreamed of when being the coordinator or planner. Whether you’re in search of beautiful, fresh-cut flowers or a skilled wedding and event coordinator and planner, I’m the one you can count on!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Taking my knowledge of growing flowers in a garden and expanding into a small flower farm came with some learning curves. With hard work, support from mentors and family, and dedication, I was able to make it through my first year as a successful business while adding event coordination & planning services in order to expand my business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about In Full Bloom MI?
When it comes to wedding coordination and floral, it’s a second nature to me. I love being able to design floral and events because it allows me truly to learn the couple while bringing their vision to life. I am very thankful that I am able to work with such amazing clients and proud that I can have their event flow without a hitch. With that, I am appreciative to the vendors that I work with that make my job so much easier.

I feel that offering wedding coordination and planning as well as full-service floral sets me apart from others. In the future I hope to offer a one-stop-shop for all wedding and events. From decoration rentals, invitation design, and in-house vendors, we hope to do it all. But for now, if we are not able to fulfil a need we find a trusted vendor who can!

I am very proud that in one year I have been able to triple my wedding floral and coordination couples. For any person that is hesitant about starting a business, I am here to tell you that while it is a learning curve, it is very rewarding and worth it!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
While my passion may be floral and coordination, I also have an extensive background in marketing. With my experience, I have been able to create my brand from the ground up as well as all marketing for my business. I have learned that as a small business owner you were several hats, I am very happy some of them include graphic designer, photographer, and marketer. With help from a friend, I was even able to create my own website. I am very proud of how far our business has bloomed and am so happy that I was able to tie all my passions into one!
