Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey (Kiki) Lamore
Hi Casey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From an early age, I realized that my true strength lies in my connection to community and my unwavering commitment to meaningful work. This insight has shaped my career, driving me to dedicate myself to the non-profit sector with the goal of fostering a world that improves, even if just a little, each day through my efforts.
In 2015, I took on a role in disability services and quickly identified a pressing need within a vulnerable and underserved population: adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism. While working for a non-profit focused on helping individuals gain and maintain independence, I became acutely aware of how the existing system often fails to meet the needs of these individuals and their families. The stark realities faced by those without support, particularly parents concerned about their children’s futures, ignited a passion in me to seek meaningful solutions.
As I navigated this challenging landscape, I understood that community and meaningful work are the cornerstones of my journey. I am determined to create pathways for individuals in this space to access the essential support they deserve. Together, we can build a brighter future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Recognizing that people depend on us for life-giving services is a profound responsibility. The reality that these needs are often unmet creates an environment where individuals yearn for more from my team and me. Striking a balance between professional and personal boundaries can be particularly challenging in social work. However, I believe that serving with an open heart and embracing the philosophy of self-care as a virtue is essential.
Research shows that when we prioritize our own well-being, we become more energetic, happier, empathetic, and engaged. Conversely, caregivers are at risk for chronic mental and physical health conditions if they neglect their own needs.
I have a tendency to challenge conventional ideas, social norms, and processes that contradict my core values. I refuse to accept failures as the best we can do. This drive led me to envision a company that prioritizes the well-being of individuals, families, and caregivers alike. With that vision in mind, I set out to build it, fueled by the belief that everyone deserves the support they need to flourish.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey has certainly not been a smooth one. Along the way, I have encountered numerous challenges that have tested my resolve and commitment. One of the significant struggles has been the need to redefine service delivery in a way that truly meets the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This requires not only innovative thinking but also a willingness to challenge the status quo and advocate for systemic change.
Creating opportunities for both the individuals we serve and the professionals who support them has been another hurdle. The landscape of disability services often lacks the necessary resources and frameworks to foster growth and excellence. It has been essential to navigate these complexities while striving to build a supportive environment that empowers everyone involved.
Despite these challenges, I view them as opportunities for growth and improvement. Each struggle has reinforced my belief in the importance of advocacy, collaboration, and continuous learning. By embracing these obstacles, I remain committed to creating a more effective and compassionate system that uplifts individuals and the caregivers who support them.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Refinement Principle?

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
What might surprise those who know me or my work is that, despite my deep involvement in politics and advocacy, I place a high value on authenticity and often find myself disenchanted with many aspects of the political landscape. While my work often intersects with these realms, I genuinely prefer the daily interactions and relationships I build with individuals and their families. It’s these connections that truly inspire me and drive my passion for making a difference.
