Hi Barry, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After a few years of careful planning, we opened on 7/1/2009 to provide the general Kalamazoo community a professional counseling clinic with trained and licensed clinicians. We offer the some of the same counseling services that others offer but also offer a specialized service of counseling from a faith perspective, for those that desire that.
We started with three clinicians and have gradually added skilled clinicians with training and certification in specialized areas. Today, we have a clinical staff of more than thirty. We have been moving towards an expanding range of services, to include massage, supplemental care, and trauma treatment.
We have encountered two previous expansions and are preparing for a third expansion later this year. We share a wonderfully positive relationship with the healthcare, education, business, and religious communities. We are proud to provide counseling services for every person or family.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Our journey of growing and optimizing our counseling practice has faced some challenges. Some of those have been working collaboratively with medical insurance companies as they evolve and shift with national healthcare trends.
We moved through the COVID-19 pandemic well by staying open as an essential service throughout the pandemic. We provided telehealth and in-person options to meet the needs of the community through an extremely anxiety-provoking time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Cornerstone Counseling Center?
We are an outpatient counseling practice that has offices in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. We offer professional counseling services for individuals, couples, and families. The services that we offer cover a wide-range of counseling-related needs.
We are known for providing quality counseling services from a skilled and compassionate approach. One aspect of our services that sets us apart from others is our ability to offer services for seniors, adults, and children. Our staff offers trained expertise in a wide-range of issues.
Another aspect that sets us apart is our ability to vitally integrate faith into our counseling services for those that desire that approach. We have serve the Faith community in the greater Kalamazoo area by incorporating faith principles into the counseling process. For example, we offer Therapeutic Prayer as an approach.
We are most proud of our clinical team that is highly trained and skilled and provides excellence in counseling services. Our team is carefully selected professionals in psychology, counseling, and social work.

Very little. Hard work and dedication towards a specified vision is the means to promote success. We believe the focus determines destination so we always secure a specific goal with each and every client we serve.
Pricing:
- Insurance: $260 for initial session and $235 for each session thereafter.
- Self-pay rates: $170 for initial session and $135 for each session thereafter.
